I see the point.. Just as any other man in the room at the time, he didn't marry him, he shouldn't have to pay alimony to him.

I would think that if she had the money for the surgery, she shouldn't need alimony.

I don't think ANY woman deserves alimony. That being said, just because he/she transgendered, he/she is still the same person. Weak legal argument.

No she's not the same person, not even close.

He is no longer the woman he married, he agreed to pay the woman he married alimony.

Doesn't alimony end if the woman gets married? How will that work now? Does he/she still have to marry a man? What if he/she marries a woman?

I'll guarantee you that nowhere in the divorce agreement is there any reference to his ex as a "woman". The only way he's going to get out of paying is if the agreement says implicitly that alimony is null and void in the event of a sex change. Legally, it doesn't matter if you change your name, your sex, your face... you are still the same person with the same SSN. Fact.

No. The number doesn't change. Think about all the women that get married and change their names.

I think any guy who is so bad that his wife changes her sex just to never run the risk of getting another like him should not only be paying alimony, but he should have to compensate her for pain and suffering as well.

True story:

I once went on a blind lunch date with this guy who started immediately telling me all sorts of personal stuff. I said, "So why'd you and your wife get divorced?" And he replied, "Because she went lesbo."

Now, I don't know about the rest of you ladies, but a guy whose wife not only divorces him but changes sides as well is not a guy I'd want to get involved with.

But she's no longer a woman that can't provide for herself, no longer the lesser sex that needed the alimony to survive.. Shim is now a man, who is a provider, a hunter gatherer if you will.. Shim doesn't need anybody's help to survive any longer

No, that's what alimony/ palimony says..

I'm not capable of making a living to support myself, I'm not capable of surviving without assistance. I'm totally dependent on someone else.
