At 1448 hours, Stations 22, 2, Charles 2, EMS Stations 29 and 79 for the ATV were alerted to 30015 Hickory Drive to assist the St. Mary's County Sherrifs Department in a search for a missing person.

Units assembled on Hickory Drive, with Chief 2A (Emmart) establishing the Command on the incident. The subject had left his residence the night before on his 4-Wheeler after being distraught and had not been seen since.

After Trooper 2 searched the area but was rerouted for a medevac, a action plan was developed between law enforcement and firefighters. Several members reported to the scene with their 4-wheelers in order to cover more ground in the search. There were numerous riding trails in the area.

After searching for over an hour, Lt. Bellevou and Sgt. Barnes located the subject down a revine, where he came to rest after being involved in an ATV accident. They immediately advised command they had located the individual and were assessing his injuries. Due to the location of the incident and amount of time spent searching, crews split to determine the best means of egress. One team made it to a roadway, where contact was made with Utility 2 and Gator 79. Operations requested the balance of the assignment to respond to their location for removal and treatment of the patient. Once personnel were in place, the patient was packaged and placed in the stokes basket. Firefighters carried the patient out of the woods to the awaiting Gator at the end of Mt. Wolf Way, where he was then transferred to Ambulance 296.

Ambulance 296 transported to St. Mary's Hospital priority two.

Units operated on the incident for approximately three and a half hours.
