COLON, Mich. (CBS Local) – A Michigan man is bringing some old world charm to the popular and modern service of ride-sharing apps. Using his horse and buggy, Timothy Hochstedler has opened his own business called “Amish Uber.”
Taking riders around St. Joseph County for just $5, Hochstedler says he and his four-legged pal are cashing in on the popularity of ride hailing services around the country.

My FIL ran that backwards years ago. For the last 4-5 years before he passed, he acted as a driver for a lot of the Mechanicsville Amish for medical appointments and such. A lot of them came to his service to express what a good guy Bill was.

How do you contact an Amish Uber driver? Smoke signal?

There is an Amish renovator who has a phone installed on a telephone pole in the middle of an Amish corn field. He sits by the phone at a designated hour every evening to arrange service calls (no pun intended though it is funny) and jobs.

I know of a group in Loveville that has an answering machine in a barn and they take the messages each day.
