It IS racist!

I didn't see a single white, asian or hispanic in it. :sarcasm: We can find racism in anything if we want to. I actually viewed it as a black man overcoming his fear, a noble trait that evokes the Marine Corps pride. I am sick of those that choose to make race an excuse for the lack of progress of anyone. If you want to achieve then go for it! I will help you but I damn sure won't hand it to you!

It's true though. When I went through "Recruit Training", since that is what it's referred to these days, the majority of the ("UNQ" - unqualified) swimmers were black.

Agree, and when I watch NBA, NFL, Track and Field most of the players are black. It must be a racist thing since there is no equality in professional sports.:sarcasm: We do what we are good at. People have their own skill set. No amount of "racial equality" will ever make everyone a superstar in anything. Physical ability, mental ability, desire, and personal fortitude will always be the deciding factor. Stephen Hawking will never be my equal in any physical activity but I damn sure won't go up against him in physics or math! Capitalize on the strengths you have and forget the weaknesses. Strive to be the best at something. Don't ask the world to give it to you free or attach a "poor me" I am ________ (fill in the blank) so I can't achieve! End of Rant!

One thing is for certain, anyone who see's that as racist is more interested in stirring chit than in joining the Marine Corps.

I did not know that black people couldn't swim.

When I was a kid at camp, the black kids swam just fine, so this must be a recent development.

NOT Politically Correct!!
Same here, growing up inner city (New York City) no a whole lot a beaches, lakes etc that our family often went to. Summer water activities on really hot days consisted of playing in an open fire hydrant. It wasn't till I joined the Boys Club of America that I finally learned how to swim. When I went to Navy Boot camp back in 1980, the remedial swim bench was about 70% Black, 20% Hispanic, and 10% caucasian...

I think the commerical is an awesome display of someone overcoming his fears and achieving success at something.

I get in the Salisbury TV stations and a couple times their news broadcasts had stories about the local YMCAs initiatives to get more minority kids into swimming lessons since they are a disproportionate percentage of drowning victims.
