Gut being the region. And when I had BOTH my c-sections my "guts" were taken out of me and laid on my chest while they removed the baby from the womb.

NO..intestines are not touched..what was removed was umbillicus connecting baby to placenta.
Then cord was tied( clipped) and cut and baby removed and then placent..and womb inspected tomake sure lining is clean and smooth adn not tissue is left attached, (That can cause a bleed out..and women died from this...
I worked in OB/GYN and Labor and Delivery...seen many C's done.
To temove intestines is way too much work, danger of infection and very hard to put back in.
Believe me, it was not your intestines, it was the cord and related items.
If it was your intestines, you need to talk to your doc.

Why did they do that...

I haven't a clue. N was an emergency and I was split hip to hip and with the babe they had to remove all the old scar tissue? I'm absolutely positive it was done. The nurse told me with #1 because I was starving and arguing with her as to why I was not allowed to eat at 6:00 at night having had N at 5something in the morning. With baby G, baby daddy looked over the sheet and saw it.

The nurse with baby #1 TOLD me it was intestine and the baby's daddy who saw it is a firefighter/EMT (paid not volunteer) so I'd venture to say he knew damn well what he saw.

The not eating has to do the the anesthsia (sp). Intestines ae the first organ to go to "sleep" and the last to "wake up". To prevent cramping, and very painful gas, you are on IV solution for first 24 hours and then liquids, then ease your way up to normal food. Does not matter if your leg is operated on or your tummy..any surgery that causes the intestines to go to sleep usually require a gentle reintroduction to normal food.....OK?

Will you shut the hell up and stop acting like you were there. The first nurse TOLD me I could not eat because my intestines had been taken out and moved all around and it would take time for them to readjust. With the second baby, the daddy looked over the sheet and was very certain of what he saw. :yay:

My bf had a spinal block when he had knee surgery. I'll have to ask him if he was denied food for 24 hours. I doubt it.

I had minor surgery a few years ago and was not allowed to eat. I had K natural (less an epidural) and was not allowed to eat as well. It is because of the anestatheia (sp) as the one person put it.

Here is a picture of baby in womb..no way doc took out intestines to get to baby..unless he made a mistake and cut into the top of the womb thru intestinal cavity....

And if doc took out intestines, they only go back the way they came in and did not need time to "readjust"

I have seen/assited in more deliveries than you know.
Unless you emergency c-section was done w/no planning...I am sure you are mistaken.

again..a baby in proper position in a womb:

I had an epidural and demanded (and received) food immediately after I was taken to my post-delivery room.

We're talking spinal block not an epidural or inhaled anestatheia. I had my hoots done and was not allowed food 12 hours before but given no restrictions afterward. I woke up wanting to yak though.

My Sweetest Boy
Well, when my first child was delivered vaginally, I would swear my intestines and everything else inside of me came out that day.

I rec'd food afterwards, but before & during you are not supposed to eat. If for some reason something goes wrong and you have to go under, it can interfere with the anasthe-whatever.

Did ya miss the part where I said baby #1 was an emergency and that with baby #2 they had to take out the scar tissue from the first? #1 was an emergency and so much so that I was cut HIP to HIP, my baby came out coding, was whisked away and I was not allowed to see him for 12 hours until he was stabalized enough to bring him to me.

Right, but they're talking about being able to eat afterwards. By chance I hadn't eaten anything since breakfast the day I went into labor, and he was born 21 hours later. I was starved. :lmao:
