Matt Gaetz

LightRoasted

If I may ...
For your consideration ...

He had a good reason to vote no.

Asked about his vote, Gaetz told The Hill the measure would serve as “a backdoor loophole for illegal immigration and amnesty.”

“The government’s failure to accurately and specifically define human trafficking allows this legislation to act as a backdoor loophole for illegal immigration and amnesty,” he said. “The bill also costs over half a billion dollars to implement and gives more taxpayer money to overfunded, inefficient grant programs.”

Being nominated to a cabinet post wouldn't nullify any criminal charges against the nominee. Also the investigation came up with nothing awhile ago and dropped it.

The Hill story is from 2022, so that's not current information. Looking at the list of Congressmen who voted against that bill, I'm curious what else it contained or how it was worded. The Hill is quite left so I don't expect honesty from them, I expect them to paint Republicans and MAGAs specifically in the worst possible light.

Pressure mounts to release House ethics report on Gaetz sex trafficking allegations

Comment:
Apparently, you have not been following the GOP reaction to this nominee. Nor have you been aware of the fact that there is a report that may be released that shows his unfitness. On top of that, his actual behavior on the floor showing nude pictures and bragging about sexual exploits does not speak well to your assertion that he is "just the man we need to clean the DOJ swamp."

I feel pretty confident that Gaetz, and RFK will drop out before the hearings. Gaetz will land a lucrative position, and RFK will go back to doing whatever it i that Kennedy's do between elections.

Pressure mounts to release House ethics report on Gaetz sex trafficking allegations

Comment:

Here's the thing:

They stopped the investigation because they found nothing. Gaetz is so radioactive, especially after his ouster of Kevin McCarthy, that if they had anything at all it would have been all over the place and Gaetz would be gone by now.

Leftwing sources are not good sources, especially when they're speculating about Republicans and printing allegations (aka "rumors").

There are real boogeymen under the bed; let's not manufacture them.

Yep, if Garland's DOJ felt they had a smidgen of a snowball's chance in Hell you know they would have gone full bore total war on it, but they didn't. In other words, there was nothing there.

As to the House ethics investigation (dropped upon his resignation) you know damn well it was retribution for the ouster of McCarthy and whatever they end up leaking will be nothing but innuendo, allegations, and fabrication.

Absolutely. They still want to talk about it because *ahem* some of us will jump on it and not go any further or even wonder why the "investigation" has been going on for several years without any charges being brought. Also criminal charges don't just go away because you get a cabinet nomination. If there were any evidence Gaetz was involved in minor sex trafficking they wouldn't just go, "Oh well 🤷‍♂️ " and drop it.

His confirmation hearing will be annoying. Democrats will rant and rave, make accusations and not ask any questions because they're not there for answers, they're there to hurl venom and vote no no matter what. A number of the Republicans are loyal to the swamp and not only don't want Gaetz poking around, they're pissed about McCarthy. I won't watch because that sht gives me a stomach ache. Politicians are the worst people on earth. I don't know how they stand themselves.

What’s the possibility that Trump knew they’d oppose Gaetz - so he could offer someone ELSE?

I think Gaetz is done. If you believe the leaks there are nearly 30 republican senators lined up as a no. I don't know yet about RFK. I think Gaetz may have agreed to be the sacrificial lamb. It gave him a reason to resign from the house before the ethics committee released their report, and it lets the senate tear into him while maybe ignoring some of the other picks. Trump may even have someone in mind that he wants more than Gaetz he is just going to let this play out. He might even be trying to screw democrats into keeping the senate in session over the holiday for fear that the senate might agree to recess appointments. You never know with Trump.

Personally - I think HHS is the most perfect job for RFK Jr - it really puts him right where he needs to be to pursue everything he's skilled at addressing and he has a real passion for it.
