We already know this. 17 isn't a child and it's not pedophilia.

Again I say, if the Ethics Committee had the goods I am positive Gaetz would be behind bars this minute. They absolutely wouldn't have dropped it.

The Ethics Committee has no power to put him behind bars, they can refer the matter to DOJ. In this case the DOJ had indicated that they had interest and requested that the committee defer the case to them, which the DOJ dropped when there wasn't enough to continue to charging.

Grassley: Gaetz Ethics report’s release would result in ‘faster consideration’ of nomination

The House Ethics Committee would set a terrible precedent by releasing a report that is no longer a matter before the committee.

Besides you know damn well it will be leaked anyway for the chance to interfere with the President's agenda and those he wants in position to carry out that agenda. You all haven't seen anything yet as to how nasty the confirmation hearing will be, think Bork, Thomas, and Kavanaugh then multiply that by at least 10.

Kavanaugh was the worst one I've seen. I don't remember Bork and I didn't get to watch Thomas, just follow it through the news and occasionally one of my clients would have it on in their office and we'd watch for a few minutes. Alito's confirmation hearing was awful.

These things are so disgraceful and embarrassing that we elect these disgusting ignorant vermin. Everyone is going to vote down party lines anyway, so skip the dog and pony show and just take the vote.

It WAS the worst - bear in mind, they were trying to establish that he had created a rape ring when he was just a college kid - an accusation from a woman who brought it up years later but couldn't even remember the YEAR it happened - where it happened - who was there - and so on.

I know a handful of people who were molested - and I was, once, when I was found blazing drunk on campus - and I can tell you the month, year, who it was, what happened the next day, who was there - everything. My sister went through hours of what could only be termed as torture - and yes, she remembers every minute.

The thing with Bork - which I remember - and Thomas, where I watched all of it - was THIS had never happened with the confirmation of a SCOTUS justice before. In comparison - subsequent left-leaning justices SAILED through confirmation, because no one doubted the credentials of RBG and so forth. Because credentials SHOULD be all that matters.

Since then, almost every right-leaning justice has been put through the ringer. And I don't know if it will change - Roe was always front and center of all of these (besides allegations and pubic hairs).

That sounds a lot like Trumps rape case.

See, and THAT is what makes me doubt stuff like that. While it can be so traumatic you can choose to forget details - you DON'T EVER FORGET IT.

At least, no one I know ever has.

It will be leaked and then I hope they go after the leaker with both barrels. Nip it in the bud before it gets a chance to become a habit like it did last term.

We have seen how hard they go after leakers, so that won't work.

This is a very interesting read about Gaetz. And may very well explain things.

Was Kavanaugh worse than Trumps conviction for the changing room thing that had zero supporting evidence, was apparently not important enough to report for decades, and had at least some supporting evidence that the lady's "memory" couldn't be trusted (the clothing she claimed to buy not being made until years later, etc.)

I thought it was the threat from MTG to release all the records causing other R's to threaten Gaetz into refusing the appointment....

That was infuriating. An incredible and outrageous miscarriage of justice.

Trump was not found guilty of rape - he was found guilty of defamation. As in, she said he raped her, he said she's a liar, and a judge/jury (whatever it was) said, "Oh, you can't call her a liar! That's slander!"
