Has anybody heard what is going on at M.H? My H heard a couple of loud bangs and then he said the fire whistle went off and he is said tons of fire trucks and all went towards the school. He rode by just to see where they were and he said that they were at the middle school. I'm just curious what is happening. My daughter goes to the elementary school right by the middle school.

Well, the school is about 80 to 85% black.
The kids can't read or write, and abuse the teachers. There was one instance where a black kid locked a girl inside a restroom and tried to attack here.
Thankfully she escaped. There is absolutely no recourse for backtalking by smartmouth punks with chips on their shoulders, thinking that white teachers "owe" them something-God knows what that could be.
On top of all that, a teacher sends a biligerant student down to an administrator, and they turn around and send the animal back to the classroom.
If this is what you want for your son/daughter, then yes, send them to the Federal Skewl system. My advice, send them to Gonzaga or Bishop McNamara.

I heard Henson was closing after this year.
And I agree with you louie and Henson is one of the "better" schools in the area. After Henson they go to Lackey where they can fine tune their attitudes and cause more trouble.

I went to Henson in 1994-1997...Some of the teachers I had are still there. It has gone downhill...It was a good school when Mr. Ovens was principal. He was an asset.
I don't think they would close Henson...there's not another middle school besides Smallwood that could take the students zoned...Unless they had another MS built right in the Bryans Road, Indian Head area...which they don't...and with St. Mary's closing...I don't think they would close it.

I'm thinking they are thinking of St. Mary's Star of the Sea closing. That's right close to Henson. I don't think Henson is closing either; but they did just build the new middle school over by North Point. I could see Henson getting a face lift - maybe that's it. :shrug:

I heard Stoddert also got really bad this year. Most of my friends teach there and they absolutely hate the current crop of dumbass that populates that school.
Picco, Somers and Smallwood are probably the better middle schools. Westlake and La Plata are definently the best high schools Chuck County has to offer right now. I remember when Westlake was the armpit of the school system.

My boy goes to Somers and there is absolutely no BS, they just do not put up with it. The teachers are excellent.
He is zoned for LaPlata and as long as it holds out he should be in good shape...

I went there when Warfield was there... he was something else.

I escaped her wrath! Mr. Burrick (dad called him Mr. Buick) had it out for me.
I think I started there in 80...Warfield was a VP at LaPlata, he was not worth 2 shiats IMO. We had Cecil as a principal and he was the biggest tool... I liked Weirich as a principal LOT better.
I did not know Warfield died...
