I saw you hit the car in the parking lot of the Leonardtown McDonalds at 6:00 pm today. You got out checked your truck...looked around and took off. Really nice.

I can't believe someone would do that, especially in a gov't vehicle. Did you report him? or let the people who's car got hit know?

I was in the backseat with 2 grandchildren in carseats. When my daughter came out I went into McDonalds and asked around but it was very busy in there, so I put a note with my name and number on the car. There was another woman in the car next to me who also saw him, I just can't believe he would just get out, check damage them drive away. The times we live in I guess.

Contact the state Fleet Management folks and report this person. The state actually has fairly strict rules for operating state-owned vehicles.

Google is a wonderful thing!

Just a little story here. A guy I knew, he hit a car, he knew people were watching so he got out and left a business card under the wiper. Trouble as it wasnt his business card, just one he had in his pocket. Pretty crummy trick.

Did you call MSP or the Sheriff's Office? They will need a witness if there was damage to the other vehicle. The guy may be charged with leaving the scene. If there are no witnesses, neither his govt. agency nor the police can do much about it if there is no damage to the vehicle HE was driving.

I believe she stated clearly that she witnessed it... and there was another person that wintenssed it... How many witnesses does this state need for a hit-and-run? Leaving the scene? Is that hit and run? Isn't a hit and run a felony?

I could be wrong, someone like smcop can clear it up, but i think that there needs to be an occupant of the vehicle that was hit for it to be hit and run. I think it is just "leaving the scene" in this case.

It would be written up as, "Failing to stop after accident resulting in damage to unattended vehicle or property", which is 8 points plus fine and possible jail time.
