Thank you.
And please try to remember families of troopers DO reside in the community, AND participate on this board...many media accounts are one sided, and the real story often doesn't come out.

I never said i disagree with that, but it is bad that the few rotten apples spoil the entire bushel for many folks. I live with a trooper who has been given a gift certificate to very nice restaurant for the decent way he treats "perps". And, a word from the wise.... if he ASKS you how fast you think you were going....DON'T lie...or say I don't know, cause he'll politely offer to fill in the blanks... :lmao:
BTW....I think you should live by your your sig line.... :peace:

Personally, I think if he is found guilty, the judge should give him jail time. Just for the abuse of the system, and if ANYbody should know better, should be him.. Think I know this mustang, have three or four state troopers that live next door.. and the speed limit here is 20 MPH.. but he seems to squeal his tires every time he comes or goes.. matter of fact there are some "scratches" on the pavement out here about 50 feet long.. IF it's the same guy.. hope they take his priviledge to drive away for a LOOOONG time.. and of course his JOB needs to go away too...

Several things i can say about MSP. They DO thouroughly investigate their own, whether it's made public or not is another story. CID feels the same way most folks do...THEY ARE held to a higher standard. It's drilled into them at the Academy (which is six months IN HOUSE BTW). The disipline is appropriate, and usually harsh. This guy (I don't know him) is young, only 25 i think the article said, so he's fairly new out of the academy. If he's found guilty his career and the rest of his life probably, is a bust for a stupid mistake. MSP are held accountable and too an extremely high standard, hence, in the policing field in general, the suicide rate is above norm than for most career tracts. They risk their lives every time they even do a simple traffic stop...and always have to be in a hurry to go to the next call. That's a hard habit to break. But ya know what?? If i NEEDED one...i'd sure as H*ll want one to bust his hump getting to ME, and ya know what else?? He WOULD, not knowing what waited on the other end. JMHO...and perhaps another perspective. Time for my morning coffee... :coffee:

He refused to take the breathalyzer test 5 hours later, guess he knew he was really drunk earlier or maybe he still was. He had another officer as a passenger in his vehicle; guess that he was too drunk to remember the law or to provide sound judgment.

For the most part I have little to no problem with the people behind the badges, but these two clowns need to be held accountable for their senseless act. A couple of years walking the roads picking up trash while wearing signs saying “we used to be State Police – now we are lowlife scum” would be an appropriate punishment in my mind.

5 hours later :yikes: I guess so. What a waste of a good career. Is it just me or does it make anyone nervous that a 25 year old with judgment like this is toting a hogleg and burning up and down the road with official powers? I hoped that the screening process to be a trooper, or any law enforcement type, would be able to weed out people with the propensity to do this type of stuff. I guess despite the best efforts some slip through. That is if in fact all this is true and he is guilty. He is still innocent for now.

There is a department up the road that just pulled someone out of their acadamey because the cadet was linked to a murder:ohwell:

Yes, it makes me nervous. The biggest problem with many new officers is the lack of maturity they display. I don't know what to make of the whole thing yet. The explanation of the refusal to take the Breathalyzer is because he could have been drinking that evening and either it wasn’t or was relevant to the incident.

I spent nearly 2 decades working for MSP, so I’ve SEEN (I watched them put the cuffs on) Trooper’s arrested for rape, theft, domestic violence, etc. etc. and they have spent time in jail, then on the other hand, I have seen several accused of a crime and it later turned out to be just a vindictive female who was angry over a break up or a boyfriend and/or spouse who was angry that his woman is seeing this Trooper. The truth will come out on this, I’m sure of it. If that passenger values his job, he will tell all he knows about what happened that night.

Happy is right, the MSP leaves no stone unturned when investigating their own. As a matter of fact, I have always believed that if officers investigated everyday cases the same way the department investigates its own, there would be no unsolved cases in the state.

Can't say I was really surprised about any of it AND it shouldn't label every single police officer.

Almost all PD's are understaffed and have a very limited selection of people who apply to do the job. The hiring process is long and thorough. But some people can work a system and you'd never know it.

I think him and his buddy are just bad apples. One is rotten and making the entire barrel stink. As to toting a weapon with his type of decision making ability, yep it’s a concern but it looks like they might “nip it in the bud” fairly early on and with only a minimal amount of damage (use your best Barney Fife voice with the phrase in quotes).

Yep, I agree that he is innocent for now. Though refusing the test means an instant suspension of his driver's license. It’s kind of tough to be a State Police Officer that isn't allowed to drive. And he gets suspended with pay too. I wonder how long it drags on until he has his day in court. He screwed up, will probably be fired for it, might do jail time, and we get to pay for an extended vacation for the guy. Don't you just love America?

what happens if they let him off and hes allowed to keep his job? how do you guys feel about that? I for one say NO . He is a state trooper that is suppose to follow the law and protect us from what he did. Jail time or not he shouldnt be allowed to continue his job as a trooper. jmo

I'm confident in saying that if he is truley guilty he won't have a job. Like IM4 said Internal Affairs is very, very thorough. Things don't slide:wink:

If they let him off then he is innocent. You don't think he's innocent and neither do I but if we were on the jury we would have to fairly examine all the facts. Unless he had a miraculous way of explaining why he refused the drunk test, I'm sticking with guilty.

I wrote tis last week but could not get on line to post it.

Let’s see where to start. I will start with the comment by the SMIB “Dewdrop” who is using this MPD because they don’t have what it takes to stand up and say it as them self.

Quote from Dewdrop: First of all the article only tells one side of the story and because he was a trooper, who risks his life everyday to protecting us, the media is going to make a big deal out of this. I hope he gets to keep his job and the women gets charged with making a false claim.

This comment is ridicules, if you actually think like this; you must suffer from a mental deficiency. Let me get this right? You want an innocent woman with broken bones to be charged with a false claim for being hit by a DRUNK AZZ LOSER, and telling the truth. The person who did this is not someone who deserves to wear a uniform of a state trooper. He needs to be in jail with the rest of the SCUM who would hit a person and RUN. He is a low life and needs to loose his job and go to jail where he belongs. As far as this AZZ CLOWN being a person “who risks his life everyday to protecting us” I say BS. I will do better protecting myself then letting a DRUNK AZZ HOT RODING CLOWN protect me.

Quote from Willie: This is very-very sad for all the dedicated troopers that don't deserve this kind of publicity. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter if they get off Scott free or get jail time, Maryland State Police, in general, get a bad rap.

Yes it is sad, but it does matter if they get off Scott free or get jail time. If they go free it makes people hate the police and loose respect for all the GOOD cops out there. THESE TWO, yes I said TWO clowns need to be held to a higher standard then those of us who don’t wear a badge and SERVE AND PROTECT. These two clowns messed up and nedd to pay the price. I say being fired is not good enough. IF I DID IT I WOULD GO RIGHT TO JAIL. So why should it be different for these two idiots?
