is now reading "USB Device Not Recognized" in either my laptop or desktop. Never had an issue before. Is it no good any more? Why?

Ok, if you can see it in My Computer as a drive, but can't access it, try to reformat it, like a hard drive. If you can't see it, chances are "It's Dead, Jim".

If I reformat it I'll lose what's on it won't I?

Yes, but it's kind of a moot point if you can't read it anyway on any PC. There are ways to try and recover data, but you *did* have the info on there backed up somewhere else, right????

Seems that the only time I remember to back up is when something gets lost  Nevermind "It's dead"...doesn't show on My Computer.

You had to copy it from somewhere. Did you delete the source after copying it to the mem stick?

So sorry for your loss. Don't throw it away, someone might be able to look at it and glean something off it.

I can't remember what is on the stick. :whack: I guess it's not all that important or it wouldn't have been a couple weeks since I last used it. But damn, now I gotta go out and get another one.

I have one that has a teny switch on the side. One time the switch was switched and it did the same thing. I set the switch back and presto, it worked.

True, the security enable mode. Julz, that switch, if it has one, should be pointing to the picture of an OPEN padlock...

Yeah the lock/unlock switch...no it's in the unlock position.
