Can I borrow it anyway and try to fix it?

You can HAVE it now if you like. I'm not sure that fixing it will be an option though. I snapped the round bottom detector part right off the pole.

Does anyone have a metal detector I can borrow for a few weeks? The kind I need is one of those one would use at the beach to find stuff buried in the sand. I can put a deposit down.

The reason I need it is I need to find the metal rebar/stakes marking my property lines. I called the builder a few days ago and was told by them that the markers should be below the grade...meaning underground...they suggested a metal detector....
Finding the metal stakes depends on the date of the last survey. It was not a requirement to put in metal stakes in earlier years. We found out the hard way when we went out and purchased a metal detector for the same reason only to find notta... You could always do the purchase, one time use, and return?

It's a brand new house, and we were told that they're out there. :ohwell:

it could probably be fixed. but i wont attempt it, because Nickel doesnt want anymore of my "stuff to fix" in the closet.
