Metrocast 7 meg service...serious issues

That sounds about normal. That is what I get even though we pay for more.

Yea but thats not right. Why pay for 7meg when we get less than HALF of that?

When I had my 1.5meg DSL from Verizon I had 1.5 any time I wanted it day or night.

Oh I completely agree but its a nationwide issue, not just Metrocast. There are all kinds of reports and posts about false advertising in internet speeds on the web.

Thats horrible. I feel sorry for the people paying out the azz for the "gamers package" wonder what speeds they are getting.

I'll have to say, I was getting terrible service from GMP. When Metrocast came around everything seemed to be a lot better. It really has been pretty much flawless until the last month or so. I always got my full 7/.5 (6/.25 before, etc etc) with no problem. Few weeks back my internet just stopped working. Called up tech support and the tech said they had upgraded their system the night before and after about an hour of work on their end (they got my callback number and disconnected me as they worked on the problem) I was back to normal. Once in a while my speed will drop to .5/.5 - 1.5/.5 for extended periods. 3-5/.5 is the average now compared to constant 7/.5 for a long time prior. I'm not getting any packet loss so I donno what's up. Tonight is an example of a bad night.

All I know is it stinks! I'm looking forward to getting back the Metrocast I've been paying for since they came around. :)

Pingsteal

That Gin & Juicers hunk.
After having Metrocast for 2 and a half years, I had called and complained several times about the internet speed and got no results. So I finally had to take my money elsewhere and now have Verizon DSL. I'm a gamer so I am all about speed and was worried that going to DSL was going to comprimise my gaming ability. And while my ping times did go up a bit, I haven't been impacted all that much.

I'd rather have the 6 and 7 MB connection, but if I am going to pay for it, give me that speed.

And no this isn't a you should switch to DSL post because I know not everyone can get DSL and 2 I know people are loyal to Metrocast. I'm just telling my story when it came to my issues with Metrocast's internet connection.
