Inner Harbor's a #### hole and so is Fell's Point. You can't sit on any of the benches because homeless people are sleeping on them. Then at dusk the druggies rise and roam.

It's generally safe at Power Plant on a weekend night because there are so many people, but even then you have to be careful and use the multiple buddy system. It really is a shame what the politicians have done to that city.

Inner Harbor and Fells Point are not ####holes. Granted the Inner Harbor isn't as "nice" as it used to be but there is plenty to do, is maintained and offers a variety of decent restaurants and shopping (let alone places to visit).

Part of the problem may be age and I mean no offense. But based on what I know of you (very limited of course and solely from the posts on this board), I'd put you somewhere in the 40-60 range. My apologies if I've shot too high . But my point here is that any of these places are probably not for you after dark. I'm 41 and they're not for me anymore - most "busy" places aren't. But during the day, they are safe. I've taken my family to the Inner Harbor many times in the recent years.

Harbor East is "high end" now and lies directly between the Inner Harbor and Fells Point and is heavily patrolled with lots of people out at all times. Fells Point has some pretty decent day spots but is largely known for it's bar scene and a younger crowed later in the evening. Staying at the Inner Harbor until 10pm with family (even young kids) shouldn't be an issue in terms of safety. I can't imagine Fells Point has much to offer a family with young kids or even much for singles/couples my age and older later into the evening. After dark and overnight, yes, you probably do see an influx of homeless but that is well past when I would tend to be there.

Up. Identified. Lase. Fire. On the way.
Ooh! I've got it!

Hire Oprah to give out the guns to the police force. "You get a gun, and you get a gun, and you get a gun....everybody gets a gun!" And the Left will applaud wildly and love it, because...Oprah.

Most, most excellent.

I am VERY glad to have put down my :coffee: just prior to reading this.

I am 55, so your range is accurate. And you're right that I have a lower tolerance for #### holes than I did when I was younger. During the day many areas of B'more are fine, more or less, if you don't mind aggressive panhandling, but the freaks come out at night and I wouldn't take my grandson walking around Inner Harbor or Fell's Point after dark.

Now, downtown Annapolis is a joy. Very family friendly, no homeless people laying in the street, clean, a great place to hang out. Baltimore, not so much. Especially since I started traveling extensively and seeing how other areas do it, I have low tolerance for cities like Baltimore.

Agreed. After all, when criminals come at them, they can just call for the reinforcement that HAS the gun, like we have to call for a cop since WE can't have guns like the criminals do. Because, when seconds count, their reinforcements should be there in just a few minutes or so.

Good point, Jimmy!
It’s very rare to come across someone with a gun. I would be fine with their gun in a secure lock box in the trunk of their car. Leaving it on their hip for easy access results into too many unnecessary shootings.

Ah, so when they need it within seconds, it will be just a few minutes away from them to get to.

You make all kinds of sense!

A question if I may.

On the rare occasion you do come across someone with a fire arm, how can you tell they have one if it is concealed?

I've pondered this for years and always wondered how you do it?

Provided you don't wander too far off the ranch - kind of. And only during prime time.
I remember searching for parking in Fells Point one night - and finding myself in neighborhoods I'd never
want to return to at night.

But I don't like ANY part of Baltimore.

I admire your tenacity. I rarely bother responding to Salmon (or Sapidus) unless it's to make a jibe. There's no point in it.

"Uh...uh...it's got electrolytes...."
