At what age did you switch from vitamin D, 2% or 1% milk, to skim milk, for your kids? I thought we could switch my son over when he turned 2, but the doctor said to give him at least 1% because he still needed fat. He's 3 now, and I would like to give him skim milk, because he loves milk, but I think hes getting too much fat from it. I would call and ask the doctor, but unless I actually have an appointment, its a PITA and the secretaries never give you a straight answer.

Both of mine have been getting 2% since they were one (I know the youngest isn't much older than that but it is what he went on right after formula) I am going through a gallon and a half a week with the kiddos. The oldest asks for milk with each meal.

He doesnt eat junk food, and hes on 1% but hes always been big, like football player big. Vitamin D milk sucks anyway. The biggest issue is having to buy 3 different kinds of milk for the house, its kinda a PITA.

3 kinds of milk.....no way I would do that. Well I do occasionally get nesquik chocolate or strawberry milk, but everyone is happy with 2%. I hate milk but I would drink skim but no one else will so I don't buy it. I make sure I get calcium enriched orange juice for me.

well, my dad drinks skim, I dont drink alot of milk, but when I do, I drink skim, and so does the girl. D hardly ever drinks milk, and neither does my mom, but she insists on buying milk, like shes gonna drink it, and buys 2%. The boy drinks 1%, but we always buy the milk for him, and for my dad. The problem is, we end up with like 5 gallons of milk at a time.

My kids don't really like milk more than what they get at school. We only buy whole milk because it makes a difference for cooking, and if they drink a cup or two a week, it isn't a real factor.

We only buy calcium orange juice just to make up for any lack. My daughter came home from school one day and apologized for drinking orange juice that didn't have calcium in it. We discussed it and now she understands it's still good, but it was funny at the time!

Neither does mine. He'll ask for soda with his dinner and I pour him a glass of milk.
The watresses always think it's funny when we ask our kids if they'd like juice, milk, or soda, and the kids ask for water.

We go through 3+ gallons of milk a week, Milk does a body good.

If you want your chunker to lose weight, change his eating habits and activity level.

I'm out of milk and I sure do wish for a tall glass of it right about now...:ohwell:

Would you settle for something white and full of protein in a seven inch "glass"?
