Missing dog

I found a dog today, Callaway area. If you are missing your pup, please let me know. I brought it in and feed it. It is extremely skinny. It is wearing a collar, no tags. I've contacted animal control to let them know I have the dog should you call them looking.

The dog is a pure breed. I'll not give the breed of the dog, but if it's your dog, you'll know how to claim it by the sex, color, color of collar and any other identifying marks it has.

If the owner is not found, I'm keeping it. It is adorable and my 3 year old daughter has fallen in love. :yahoo::yahoo: She picked a name and has been calling it by that name for the past few hours, even though the name is for one sex of dog, and the dog is the opposite. :roflmao: If I keep it, it may end up with a new name yet again.

If you claim your dog, we need to discuss why this pup is so unhealthly looking. It was STARVING and gobbled an entire dish of food and water.

:howdy: Lots of dogs being found lately.

Maybe your 3 year old will end up with a new friend and this pup will be given a proper home :yay:

If it is a lab (color doesn't matter) it's mine.

Doggie is still here and has done very well. Still eating like a pig. It gets along well with the other dogs and is very playful and well behaved. Pretty well potty trained, but has had a few accidents, to be expected in a strange house with other animals.

Anyone know where this little angel belongs? Please PM me.

Maybe the dog has been lost for some time and not the owner's fault.

Hopefully that is the case. It is very young and had a collar on, that is why I tend to think it is someones pet.

It is getting lots and love, attention and food right now which is most important. I really do want to keep it, but if it is someone's pet, I'm hope they are missing it and looking forward to being reunited. Otherwise, if it has been abandoned or whatever, it's all mine. I'm in love

DoWhat, if it doesn't work out, you can have first dibs  This pup is just too cute for words.

I hate when people won't tell the breed of the dog. You can keep things like sex and collar color to yourself. Give SOME hint as to what the dog is so people can help. If someone knows their neighbor lost a beagle (for example) it will help the dog and owner get reunited.

I understand what you are saying, however I don't want 20 people claiming it's their dog either.

But to satisfy somd.com, SOME hint as to the breed, it's on the smaller size. Dowhat will be disappointed, it's not a lab.

I've driven all over the area looking for signs that someone has lost their pet. Nothing. I've asked around to neighbors. Nothing.

If it was my dog missing, I'd have a billboard up by now  I've done what I can to locate the missing owners. Hopefully this week I'll hear SOMETHING, even if they don't want the dog anymore.

The point is...it's NOT your dog and when you find dog, you should assume somebody is looking for it and do you best to find the owner. Just because you give the breed does not mean you are going to have 20 people come forward and claim a dog that is not theirs.

I find this disturbing that you will not post the breed. You should call the Animal Control and post that you found the dog on their website too. I just posted about a dog I found and posted a pic. I posted on Craigslist, called the Animal Control, posted on SOMD and posted a description on AC lost and found board. It is just the right thing to do. BTW, I didn't get tons of calls. Do the right thing. Odds are that you will be able to keep the dog. Most people are not going to claim a dog that isn't there own.

Good luck to you either way. I do hope that you get to keep the little dog. It sounds like she will have a good home with you. I just hope you do the right thing and try to find the owner. Most people do not read SOMD but they do call AC if they are missing their dog.

We have a forumite on here who's dog was missing for a month. He was very much loved and missed.

He showed up on the doorstep one morning, skinny as could be, neglected looking, but he found his way home.

Please help this baby get back home. The collar does tell a tale, even if no tags.

If you read my first post, the first thing I did was contact animal control to let them know I found a dog should the owners call there looking. I am trying to locate the owners. I can't believe I am getting bashed for not posting all the details, when I am tyring to do a good deed by keeping this animal safe until it's owners are located. I guess the best thing to do would have been to allow the dog to find it's own way home, even if it took a month? I just didn't want to see it dead on the side of the road. I've learned my lesson. Pics will be posted later.

And we wonder why people hate to get involved when something happens. :cds:

We are not bashing you. In fact, I truly do hope that you get to keep the dog. I think you would be a wonderful home. Just calling AC and saying you found a "small breed dog" isn't, IMO, sufficient. They match reports to the description of the dog. Additionally, if it is a pure breed, it is very likely that he or she is microchiped. You can take the dog to any vet to have it scaned. You may want to do this before you get too emotionally invested in a dog that may eventually be recovered by its original owner.

I think we are just giving you advice based on our own experiences. In fact, I had one of my dogs lost in VA far, far away from home. Long story as to what happened but the long and short of it is that she was miles away from where she originally went missing. We had over 100 filers and the folks that found her were no where near those fliers. It was amazing that we got her back but we never did give up. When she came home, she had frost bite and was very skinny. BTW she too is a small breed dog.

Good luck to you and I am very glad you decided to get involved. You very well may have saved that little dog's life. That is nothing to be bashed for. Kudos to you!
