Missing dog

We are not bashing you. In fact, I truly do hope that you get to keep the dog. I think you would be a wonderful home. Just calling AC and saying you found a "small breed dog" isn't, IMO, sufficient. They match reports to the description of the dog. Additionally, if it is a pure breed, it is very likely that he or she is microchiped. You can take the dog to any vet to have it scaned. You may want to do this before you get too emotionally invested in a dog that may eventually be recovered by its original owner.

I think we are just giving you advice based on our own experiences. In fact, I had one of my dogs lost in VA far, far away from home. Long story as to what happened but the long and short of it is that she was miles away from where she originally went missing. We had over 100 filers and the folks that found her were no where near those fliers. It was amazing that we got her back but we never did give up. When she came home, she had frost bite and was very skinny. BTW she too is a small breed dog.

Good luck to you and I am very glad you decided to get involved. You very well may have saved that little dog's life. That is nothing to be bashed for. Kudos to you!

Animal control has ALL the details on the found dog. Still hoping it finds it's home, if in fact it is a good home and they are missing it. I hate to think that someone out there is missing their little friend. I know how I would feel if it was one of mine.

**UPDATE**

The pup has been reunited with his owner. They have had him for about a month, originally he was the owners brothers dog. His two children were too rough with him and broke two of his legs. I hope this home will be a better home for him. His legs are mending, including the one that required surgery to repair.

I hope these owners take better responsibility for him. I was sad to see him go, but happy his owners found him. I told the lady if they decide not to keep him, I would love to give him a forever home.

Sorry you didn't get to keep him... :howdy: and hopefully, like you said, this home will be much better for him than the last. Maybe they will take you up on the offer!

There is always dogs that seem to get lost in Callaway  If we don't know who's they are we will usually run up to All Kinds and have them scanned to see if they are microchipped. Hopefully they are taking care of this one sounds like he needs it.

disappointed, but she'll be ok. I just hope the little fellow will be :ohwell:

I hope he gets loose again and finds his way back to your house where he was treated so good. Next time it's finders keepers! I am suprised he wasn't afraid of your daughter after his history with kids. :huggy:

I know! You would think he would be, but he had the sweetest personality! He loved her and licked her and snuggled with her. Heck, he even tried to take a bath with her twice! I had to pluck him out of the bubbles and eventually close the bathroom door to keep him from jumping in :killingme

Kudos to you, yong lady for your compassion. Sadly it is a trait lacking in many nowadays. I hope you find a pup like the one you had to give up, or even better, select an older dog from the shelters. They need love too.
In any case, God bless you for the lesson you are imparting to your daughter. God bless you for the bigness of your heart.
We have four dachsies, all rescues. They are our comfort and joy (and sometimes a source of vexation...LOL) Our only regret is the brevity of the time they are allowed to spend with us.

**UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE**

The little dog "Cody" escaped again today and came running back to me while I was out playing with the half pint enjoying the sunshine around lunch time.

As much as I just wanted to keep him, I knew the right thing was to take him back home again :bawl:

I rang their door bell and when he answered the door I told him Cody had come back to visit me again. He came out and sat down to chat with us. Half pint had him on the leash running around playing with Cody and both of them giggling up a storm. I told him the deal stood, if they ever wanted to give him up I wanted to bring him home. The guy looked at me and said very casually "OK". I about fell over. I asked him, are you sure? Yep! He said him and his girlfriend had already discussed it last night and were going to bring him to me last night. Apparently Cody decided he wanted to live here too :yahoo: So I am (or half pint) is now the new owner of 5 month old Cody the pug escape artist that kept coming to visit us :thewave:

I'll post some pics later.

Thank you for the kind words. This too is my fourth "rescue". I rescued my two shih tzus from the ASPCA 8 years ago and my big dog from the pound 6 years ago. I hope this one will also be a light in our lives for many years to come. Animals give unconditional love, and I love them for every moment they give us. :huggy:
