Missing Titanic Sub

What a horrible way to go.

more than likely the sub imploded at depth, so no more than enough time to say "oh crap" and you're done. Not like the Kursk where you're just deep enough to know you're going to die, but not able to do anything about it.

Robert Stack, Leslie Nielsen and Lloyd Bridges were old buddies from the 1950's and had a ball doing this. Add in Lee Marvin and together, they WERE on almost every TV show.

You know, I always kind of thought our technology was sophisticated enough that we could see a vehicle under water without too much trouble.

Especially one that MUST have some means of signaling the surface.

I felt stupid and stupider for even watching Dumb and Dumber.
I didn't mind it quite so much although moments were cringe-worthy. I have tried to watch Airplane! and similar type movies (Naked Gun etc) but I just don't think they're funny. Most of the movies that make me laugh are regular adventure type movies - with funny moments. Outright "comedies" almost never make me laugh. I thought the last two Thor movies were hysterical.

there would be, but it would be on the bottom. After a certain depth things that would normally float don't.
There is also the possibility that it took on water without imploding, which would leave it settled right down on the bottom too.

Do you remember a blimp floating around here a few years ago? That's what they were trying to do, pick up color shades to see if they could find a submarine visually. The deepest a military sub goes is about a half mile (as per Janes fighting ships).

if they took on water at depth then there would be sub full of people parts, water coming in at that depth would be like a plasma cutter.

I was thinking as it descended, but yeah. It would hit worse than a pressure washer.

I'm inclined to think, early accident since they say they lost contact with it after an hour or so.

I've got no first hand knowledge of this, but the Boiler techs on the ship used to look for leaks on the pressure side by waving a broom stick in front of them, when it got cut off that's where the leak was.
