If the AR did not exist and another rifle was used in a killing they would be going after that rifle and holding it responsible for all the killing. But then the stupid people believe the gun is doing the killing and not the person. The stupid people also believe if you took everyone's guns away the killing would stop. You just can't fix stupid.

And also used responsibly by millions of Americans, I might add. Remember, what you are talking about are functionally no different from the "old sporting rifles". The only things that's changed is the look. One had nice a nice wood stock, iron sights, and were used by the millions to kill millions in wars before "modern" rifles were made from those same weapons.
What is so hard to understand about "one trigger pull equals one bullet"? Black, cameo, oak, or hardened spaghetti, it makes no difference what the rifle mechanism is embedded in. Nor do the sights matter, from iron ones to super modern with cool optic coatings and laser aiming. These mass shooters, they are shooting from 5-10 feet away, sights don't matter. Magazine capacity? Yep, that one might slow a shooter down about 1/2 second between mags. And it does up the chance of a misfeed jamming his weapon.

The freaking NY Times says this:
80% of all murders, each year, consistently, pre ban, post ban, are...hand guns.
The politically defined category of weapons that have 'military style' features, including SHOTGUNS and HANDGUNS, accounted for about 2% of murders. The actual 'assault weapons' the media likes to swoon over, the AR platform, account for less than 1% and the FBI says it's statistically irrelevant.
If you care about violent murder in the US, you'd not focus on rifles of ANY kind. AR's would not even make the list.
So, the real question is WHY? DO black lives matter? If so, handguns and the drug business is where you'd focus. So, when you hear about assault weapons you're listening to someone who if they care about gun violence and especially the majority of it, black victims, ask them why they're not focusing on the real problems.

I don't really care what you call it, if it's something I have decided is best for my own protection that right 'shall not be infringed'. Until the constitution is amended, it's none of your business what I decide is best for my own protection.

Enjoy them, I suppose. NO offense intended, but this sounds like a Honda Accord owner asking me WTF I did with my 300hp Neon, or my 400hp charger. WTF do you do with a motorcycle? Some people view guns as tools to do a job. Some people view them as a hobby to be enjoyed. Same for almost anything. Some people view knives as a tool to cut veggies and steak.
