...to explain ALL my jokes?

You see, I referenced Marie, as in Antoinette, and her retort to a comment that the people had no bread. You see, no bread, how the hell can you have cake? And thus, Marie was out of touch and had no clue what the people faced, so, she lost her head.

Thus, I wanted to make a 'let them eat cake' joke, which, obviously, bombed.

Because they're not funny?

:KABOOM: Indeed. :coffee:

Since no one seems to want to vist the thread I started, I'll post the link here.

It is long, but is well worth the time in my opinion.

A few inconvenient truths for the "Inconvenient Truth" crowd.
  • CO2 makes up a small fraction of greenhouse gasses. Water vapor is the largest greenhouse gas.
  • CO2 emission lag earth temperatures, not lead it according to the exact same data used by the Al Gore crowd. If something lags instead of leads, how can it be the cause?
  • if greenhouse gases were the cause for the earth's temperature rise, the upper atmosphere would have a higher temperature gradient than the atmosphere at the surface. It is just the opposite.
  • earths' temperatures almost exactly follow the sun's activity. Imagine that. A heat source, the primary heat source's activity causes temperature changes. DUH
  • Most of the current temperature rise occurred before 1940 and heavy industrialization that was after WWII.
  • scientists that withdrew from the U.N. report could not get their names removed as contributors. One did through legal action. Seems your name was listed as a supporter even if you disagreed.

The whole :jameo: :jameo: the sky is falling :jameo: :jameo: seems to be all about money and getting research grants.

I felt the same way at first, but the testimony given by people like the go-founder of Greenpeace is compelling.

...can be rather compelling as well. Throw in some reason, geo-political and energy realities and, viola, no more dead earth.

The believers have an obligation to get me a nuclear power plant. By years end.

And that's a major part of the problem. When money enters the equation, it no longer becomes about the cause - only raising MORE money.

Yes, I do believe mankind is having an effect on the environment. Six billion strong and we DON'T? Come on. But how much is us and how much is a natural cycle of nature is unknown.

But by the same token it's become mass hysteria to the point NO ONE is taking any notice anymore. "The boy who cried wolf" anyone? :ohwell:

Actually if you look at the amount man contributes as compared to all the other sources on the earth, we are less that a percentage as I remember it. They discuss this very thing in the video. Uses studies by such terribly unscientific agencies like NASA and the European Space Agency and the data used by ALGORE. :lmao: And the correlation between the sun's activity and the earth's temperature is an eye opener.

And that, my friend, is the crux of the problem. Earth has never had a population of humans this great. At what point does it reach the breaking point?

Let's talk first about the basis of all human life: potable water. We already know we're running short in certain areas and other areas never had enough to begin with. In our area and at the rate we're consuming it, they've estimated the aquifers will only last until 2030.

http://www.stmarystoday.com/water_ok_through_2030.htm

What then? And we in this area only a small part of the problem. How about other parts of the US like Arizona or even worldwide? It's not a pretty picture.
#1 - Stop using it in toilets. Re-use waste water from sinks/showers for that duty.

#2 - Run seawater through a pipe that is heated by concentrating sunlight onto the pipe to the point of generating steam which can then be used to generate power. This also distills the water.

Excellent suggestions but in order to appeal to the masses it has to be both convenient and cost-effective. Until that happens or we run out of water FORCING us to find alternate sources, it's just a pipe dream.

When I had my house built, I looked at using geothermal wells for heating and cooling but the cost was prohibitive. I still wish I had done it, based on oil and electricity costs today.

My one regret with the addition I just built... I had considered geothermal wells as well and am now wishing I would have run with it...

One of the things brought out in the video is that the eviro-nazis want the African developing nations to use solar and other alternative energies that are the most expensive and least efficient, and the African nations are the poorest.
