More homeless kittens help ......

Adopt me please !
It is becoming a problem to keep food, litter, and general care funded for the kitties we are currently fostering until their adoption. I pulled the trap that was set to trap any more kittens that may be nearby. Instead I put a bowl of dry kitty food out and half the bowl had been eaten by this morning (sign of 1 cat eating). I have no clue if it was the neighbor's kitty or another stray/feral.

The people who help with the rescue efforts are practically ready to tie me up to stop me from taking on any more critters. It's true we do need to get some adopted out. So we have 2 kitties left to get vetted now, and we need a HUGE effort to get the word out about available kittens. I know I am biased but these kittens are the best! They purr, they play, they are just so sweet.

Gilligan and Mrs. Howell love to play and take to wrestling regularly. Gilligan is quite the daredevil and will climb to the top of the kitty play thing and jump off on a passing unsuspecting kitty LOL. Gilligan is a typical boy with his playful energy and would do great with kids of all ages.

Ginger and Maryann have become best buddies and they too like to play. I have no doubt they too would do well with just about any situation although Ginger had a dog encounter at a potential adoptive home and she freaked out and ran to hide.

MaryKate and Ashley are 2 of the most beautifully colored light gray-bluish kittens. They look like matching bookends <G>.

Dash is a very loveable and playful boy that is much larger than his twin siblings MaryKate and Ashley. Dash is long and lean as he grows.

The two 3 month old dark gray look-a-likes are buddies that cuddle together when they sleep. One is certainly more interactive as he flops down on his side to expose his belly for a rub and they both purr all the time.

If you are looking for an adult, we have a 2 year old large spayed female dilute torti that likes to snooze and be petted. She is the laid back type that isn't very active, but she always responds when you pet her, she just loves the attention.

We also have a small gray 2 year old spayed female (buddy to the one above) that reminds me of a Russian blue I had many years ago. She needs someone who will be patient with her initially as she grows to trust them. Once she trusts you she goes into what I call loving conniptions where she rolls, rubs, and flips over as she rolls when she likes the petting she is getting. You can't get any more sincere reaction than that to being loved on.

If you can tell me the personality type you are looking for, I can let you meet the kitties that would best fit for you. Kittens instinctively will hiss and back away from dogs. So just keep that in mind if you already have a dog and you add a kitten or two. They get over it pretty fast as long as the dog doesn't try to hurt them.

I've included pictures of most of the kittens. I need to add MaryKate and Ahley.

Adopt me please !
I was thinking it couldn't hurt to show up at the Farmer's Market with a few of the dogs on leash. I need to get some of those tie on banners that say "I'm Adoptable" so that everywhere we take the dogs we can be advertising the dogs.

The pit bull (mix?) Clinton is turning out to be a really great dog, and the foster home he is in has another dog that he plays well with, so no dominance issues at all with him. The Chocolate Lab/pit mix LuLu is also great with other dogs, cats, and is a great girl.

Same for the Jack Russell, Lacey, she has good interaction skills with other dogs, but she wants to be with her humans most of all. Every time she sees the chickens she tries to go after them. So she probably should not be running loose on a farm in her new home unless they don't have free range chickens.

I took Lacey to the Farmer's Market Saturday in Charlotte Hall when we met up with a nice forunite to accept a donation of litter, food, and spot-on flea/tick meds. Lacey makes friends easily <G>. She sees everyone she meets as a potential warm lap to sit in LOL.

I can guess what dash is saying. Thank You God for for this crazy cat lady finding me, Otherwise I would be in a burlap sack at the bottom of the pax river.

awww well speaking of black dogs ....

My Rottie Quinn died suddenly in the Fall of 2009, and I was heartbroken. I went to the P G County shelter to see if they had any old dogs that needed a home to retire in, instead of being euthanized. They didn't have any good candidates, so they brought out a 2 year old black dog that was scheduled to be euthanized that Friday. The lady (adoption counselor?) who took a liking to him and walked him a lot there was hopeful that we would like him. That dog had to be hands down the ugliest dog I had ever seen. Thick neck folds like a Sharpei, and a huge head that belonged on a 100 lb dog, and he was only 56 lbs. He also stank to high heaven too. We walked him around and he seemed like a nice enough dog, so I said ok I'll take him. Later that week instead of being euthanized, he was neutered and we went to pick him up. This is the picture I took of him in front of the P G County shelter on that day in 2009 .......

I have a situation ......

We currently have 2 sets of kitten twins, the dark gray boys and the light gray/blue-ish girls. Just in case they don't get adopted to the same home in pairs ........ I need a way to tell who has which numbered chip? OMG I'm gonna have to take them in to have them scanned LOL and mark them somehow? Cats generally won't keep a collar on. How do I keep track of who's who?

PLEASE help us find homes for all these kittens

We have Gilligan and Mrs. Howell - these two are quite a pair. Gilligan is always ready to get his back rubbed, and doesn't mind being carried around. Mrs. Howell likes to get to know you better before you pick her up, and even then she pretty much wants to get down, well until she knows you a little bit better anyway. These 2 look almost like twins (brother & sister) ......

Ginger and MaryAnn - MaryAnn runs to greet me - she's an interactive kitty. Ginger comes to see who just came in, then she's on her way unless you want to pet her. MaryAnn likes to be picked up, Ginger not so much. These two girls are not sisters, but they have been paired up for months and like each other enough to make good buddies, however they can be adopted separately also.

Dash, Mary Kate and Ashley - they all are open to being held, MaryKate less so, Ashley more so. Dash? He wants love from whoever he can get it from - typical boy lol. We'd love to see the twin girls stay together, but if not, we understand.

The smallest are the 2 dark gray kittens - The youngest are the 2 dark gray males that are brothers. They start purring when they hear my voice. They are so sweet. They don't romp and play like some of the other kitties. So I bet these 2 will be couch potatoes. One of the boys will flop down on the kitty bed on his side to expose his belly to be rubbed (and he doesn't whack ya' after one or two rubs either lol).

They have all been spayed/neutered and have Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, are NEG for FIV/FELV, are on Frontline, and most have microchips also. We have several sets of twins that we hope can go together but we'll split them up if we have to. We try to promote a buddy so if you don't have any pets now, we recommend you adopt 2 so they each have a buddy. They are all litter trained and have learned to use appropriate scratching posts.

I will do my best to get some updated pictures of them all.

"Now wut did I come out here fer?"

:lmao:

I am headed home to say hi to Dash. I have been feeling like crap and now my stomach is upset - not a good time to share space with co-workers.

We desperately need foster homes for some of the kittens. They are all sweet as can be, so I doubt they'd be any trouble for anyone. Have any foster kitty openings at your place?

Our kitties are trained to cardboard scratching posts, the carpeted upright posts, and they are all well trained on using the litter.

Sorry, I can't right now. I have an old brown tabby girl with severe arthritis that needs meds twice a day, I don't think she could take any young'uns around. Her meds are a little pricey so I don't think it would be responsible of me to take in kittens I couldn't afford to care for or have enough time to give them the attention they deserve.

If I hear of anyone who is looking for a kitten I'll PM you. Deal?

I think that Dash has the PERFECT name even though the name was to describe the dash of white on his chest. I introduced Dash, Mary-Kate and Ashley to MaryAnn and Ginger .......................

I have never seen so much running and chasing in play! Dash was dashing all over the place to play with MaryAnn and Ginger. He has some of the deepest black and softest fur I've ever felt. He has a long lean body too, so he's going to be a good sized boy.

Dash reminds me a lot of Mouse. Mouse a black male kitty we adopted out several years ago to a home in Hollywood, and he too was VERY active and very smart. Mouse would make rounds to wake up the children for school - gotta love that!

So I have been having issues with Frontline not working well .....

cat is scratching, look and see fleas - treat with Frontline, days later cat is STILL scratching, look and still see fleas :cds:

So I contacted the somd.com renowned authority on kitty/dog meds, and find out that I should try Advantage, so I look online and $135 for 12 doses doesn't seem like a lot, until you realize we have to treat 16 cats every month until they get adopted adopted. Add to that about $40-$50 a week in scoop-able cat litter, and without calculating food we're running about $330 a month just to maintain them. Adding food (mid-level quality) and we're up to about $550 a month.

Anyone know of any deal on Advantage? I bought some on Amazon for the short term but I need to look into any possible deals.

One or two kitties doesn't amount to a lot in maintenance costs, but 16 cats DOES, especially when the eldest senior boy is on insulin (poor Poppy is going downhill pretty fast now too). Poppy can't walk on his toes anymore and it looks painful how much of his foot is pressing down onto the floor when he walks/stands.

I meant to add that we now have 3 MORE kitties to get fixed. One is maybe 4 months old that was found outside that is sick. So I have to keep that one separate in a cage until she can be vetted and gets better.

We had another intake the other day (did I not say over and over we are full?). An all black beautiful and friendly adult kitty showed up at a local Motel a week ago and had been hanging around. Either the kitty was dumped, wandered away from a local home (not much residential property around there though) or is just a stray. We will have it checked for a chip this week and add that one to our upcoming spay/neuter appointment in early December. Leaving a tame kitty outside in the cold is just something that I can't do (nor could the motel employee who brought her to me).

Speaking of the Motel, MaryAnn is the dumpster kitty (was put in dumpster by a Motel guest) that came from that same Motel. Hoping we can find MaryAnn a home soon. MaryAnn has such a unique personality (independent yet loving) and she has a very expressive tail. Isn't she gorgeous?

Even wholesale, Advantage is expensive. The price you paid is probably less than I could get it for.
