More research bolsters the need for Vitamin D

Yeah, I said that at the beginning of this thread. Dr told me as little as 15 minutes a day in the sun with sleeves rolled up is generally enough. And mentioned that Vit D deficiency can lead to cancer, which I find believable, since I was Vit D deficient, tired all of the time and had a cancerous colon polyp removed not long after I found out I was low on Vit. D.
Trouble remembering to take your once a week pill? Set up and alarm on your phone to go off once a week. ;)

I had missed taking my weekly vit d pills regularly but my recent blood work was ok. I will set my alarm now to be on the safe side.

Just an FYI...

Anyone who has sore shins (as in they feel bruised without actually being bruised) for no apparent reason may have a vitamin D deficiency. My ortho-oncologist discovered my deficiency when during an exam he ran his thumbs up my shins. The pain nearly shot me to the ceiling. He told me shin pain was a classic sign of D deficiency. I've since been on a supplement and my shins have been pain free ever since.

BTW, I searched for shin splints / Vit D deficiency and got hits. Now I know why I had painful shin splints while running high school track. My diet was crap then. Mystery solved, thanks.

You're welcome. Too bad you didn't know it then, it could have saved you some pain.
