More salt down then snow

Just returned from K-Mart/Food Lion shopping center in California. The parking lot was white with salt. Definately more then needed, but I guess that is because of the trial lawyers.

Boy... those dump trucks and tractor trailers who get to haul salt to refill the bins sure should make a killing this winter...:bubble:

Here's my crackpot theory--the salt companies are in cahoots with the trial lawyers. The trucks will salt the parking lot to the point where the hydrochloric acid widens cracks into potholes. When someone drives over the pothole, they suffer whiplash and their car requires repairs. So they sue the shopping center's landowner for damages, and the lawyers clean up.

Too crazy? Then find another explanation why Leonardtown Centre has potholes at the entrance each winter.

I always suspected they were in league with the auto industry. The more salt on the roads, the more corrosion on your vehicle. Hence, more car washes, sell more car wax, more car repairs, paint jobs, etc.

But wait, there's more...

And they will probably need that "killing" for all those expenses that seem to pop up all the time.

Such as having to rewire most of the 300 lights on the truck because the salt has eaten thru the wires...:banghead:

Excessive salt

We lived in Colorado Springs for 24 years and never saw salt like here. The city used a 5% salt to 95% sand mix in the spreaders on the back of the plows. It worked just fine.

lived 10 years in north east Pa....never seen this much salt used before....
It's like they don't have anything better to do than ride up and down the roads and dump a #### load of salt for what.....a dusting. even closed down some of the schools, and some had a 2 hr delay....that would not happen in pa....it has to snow atleast 6 inches before they even think about delaying any of the schools up there and maybe by the time it reaches 10 inches they close the schools. Everyone was crying at work about the below 0 weather the other day.....I told them try dealing with having not only the 10 to 0 degrees and sometimes below 0 and snow almost every day for about 4 to 5 months out of a year...and lets see if you still love to see it snow.... .... yes I hate the snow....it's no fun going down the side of a mountain with no guard rails...and you hit a patch of ice under the snow covered road...and slide right into a bar's parking lot

And you'll see folks driving 25 mph under the speed limit because the roads are white.

Not tonight. I was doing 70-75 coming back from Waldorf tonight and still couldn't keep up with the flow of traffic. They were even flyin' in the left lane. :cheesy:
