mama to two
I went on to read best breeds for new dog owners. They left out greyhounds. Great pets, very affable. People often think these dogs need a lot of exercise, but that's not the case. They're couch potatoes. A run around a decent size fenced yard once or twice a day, a little playtime, and the rest of the time they sleep. I can't say enough about these dogs. However, you wouldn't want to get one right off the track unless you have a good background in training, and a lot of patience. They're even better in twos.
I agree with you. My Oreo was a half black lab/half greyhound. Her temperament was awesome; she was the mom to all our other pets. She looked mostly lab, but had that point on the top of her head and the recessed tummy of a greyhound, and she ran like the wind! If I can ever get another dog, it will be a greyhound. Can't now because of senior cats, but maybe someday. Oreo was like having another human in the house; she was that perceptive. Fantastic and loving pet. I miss her so much.
