there is a Jeep I-6 block based on the 232 / 258

282
The 282 cu in (4.6 L) engine was produced by AMC's Mexican subsidiary Vehiculos Automotores Mexicanos (VAM) beginning in 1971 through 1986. This was similar to a 258 in stroke, cast with a larger 3.917 in (99.5 mm) bore, 0.16" larger than the 258, giving 281.7 cu in (4,616 cc).

interesting how the 'same' thing ends up being different

Yup. So much of the best Ford engine stuff comes from Australia, as an example. The 302 Cleveland (the heads from which I use a lot of) and the evil cross-flow 250 6-banger (later increased to 3.0 liters) come to mind.

So this evening will see the rest of the teardown of the base donor for the next engine on the list. Starting life as a 400 Ford truck engine, it will end up at 408 ci, with full roller cam conversion, Australian closed-chamber Cleveland heads with studs and guide plates and SVO roller rockers, with custom EFI adapted to it.
