Motorcycle Insurance...

Good deal. What exactly did you have to do, to get FULL replacement value, including upgrade? Did you have to show receipts?

When I called Progressive (my current insurer) to inquire about adding insurance..heres what they said: You CANNOT just add 30k in insurance. Basically, I would "add" insurance to cover what I have "put into" the bike. IF, something were to happen, lets say stolen, THEY (progressive) would write me a check for the blue book value of the bike...and a seperate check for what I "put into" the bike. This would include parts, not labor. I would need to keep receipts for these.

Let's just say that BlueBook value on the 04' springer is 10k.
Let's say I have 15k extra "in" the bike, which is only including parts.
I would get a check for bluebook plus 15k...less my $500 deductable?
Thats what I am assuming anyway.

As of now, I'd be pretty screwed, considering I would only get bluebook. Im going to give Allstate a call tomorrow...

Always, always, always, keep your receipts! That is how Progressive works, as well as most major insurance companies on bikes. Also, if you are not already, join AMA - I know Progressive gives you a break if you are a member. :yay: At least they did when I had mine.

They also give you a discount if you are a HOG member and if you take a defensive motorcycle course annually.

We have geico and pay $100 a year. Hubby has a 73 honda. Our deductible is $250. Is it true with all motorcycle insurance that it doesn't cover the driver? My friends hubby was in a motorcycle accident a couple years ago and he had a ton of medical bills because he says that motorcycle insurance does not cover the driver.

No insurance covers the driver for healthcare costs (unless you have med-pay on your policy).

Insurance costs more on a real bike

I use Bike line and they allow you to add accessory amounts to your insurance. I currently have $2k in accessories insured.
