If you don't have your Motorcycle license, you'll have to take the MSF course and this will also suffice for the base safety course. The base will accept the MSF cert as a safety course. :yay:

the course I took on base was a MSF course. And it was one day.

They didn't want to get their chrome all messed up so they rode all of about 2 hours one afternoon and then put them back in the trailers :lmao:

I wonder if I should take it on my Ultra classic?

They will not and cannot expect you to do something on your bike that you cannot do. The instructor scraped his floorboards on the tight cones

I think you should take it on the bike you ride it will get you better aquainted with your own bike.

Totally serious on this one :yay:

I am very well aquianted with my bike and I can do anything, with the exception of turning right into a parking spot, but wrestling an 800+ pound Ultra Classic through those little cones 8 inches apart in a S is unreasonable. I did it on my Honda and the pipes still clipped cones.

They get carried away in some of their tasks. Sure you could make a dresser go through but is it reasonable to expect that?

Only guy that dropped his had brand new Triumph. Locked up the front wheel and got a dent in the tank. He didn't pass.

Can anyone take the course or is it for base personnel only?
Gotta be able to get on base somehow. Other than that I think you could be , say military home on leave, stationed at Andrews or something like that.

Why did you take both?

The state requires you to take the MSC to get your M on your liscense

and I think the base requires you to take their course, also(they give you a little sticker)

Nope, the state will give you the M if you take the MSF course -OR- you can go take the written test, then the state riding test.

I did the state riding test in Loveville in a pouring rain, fogged up visor and it was about 98 degrees

I passed everything except the slow ride. I exited the lines in 11.5 seconds instead of 12 seconds

Here's the real story. Throughout my 20 years of military service and transfering my drivers license from state to state, I lost the "M" on it and had to retake everything to get my license reinstated. Took the Maryland 2 day course. They give you a card with MSF on it. The base takes this card for their Safety course. I did not have to take the base course. The Maryland course suffices and "in accordance with" the base instruction, it is only needed to register your bike on base and get a base sticker.

OK I se your confusion. I took the base course to get my stickers. I was referring to the driving test Course at the MVA. I think I was just more nervous at the MVA.

The base MSF driving course I thought was really fun plus Civil servants and Military are given special leave to take the course.

What could be more fun than gettin paid to do riding tricks on your motorcycle:yay:
