Beginning October 1, 2022, the Move Over Law in Maryland will expand to require motorists to make a lane change or slow down when approaching any stopped, standing, or parked vehicle displaying warning signals – including hazard warning lights, road flares, or other caution signals including traffic cones, caution signs, or non-vehicular warning signs.

Hopefully MSP is a little more proactive on calling tow companies to drag abandoned vehicles off the shoulders. I think the longest I've seen one with a rag hanging out of the window is 4 days just north of Bryantown.

So they're making it a criminal offense as well as a traffic violation.

A little extreme.
And chances are they will enforce this rather than enforcing the hundreds of other violations like speeding, passing on the right, running red lights, etc...

Everybody is going to be in the left lane now. Southern MD bad drivers FB is gonna be LIT!
And just SoMD. All of the times I've traveled interstate, nearly everyone not only obeys this law and allows people to move over, but they move over for ANYTHING parked on the shoulder, lights flashing or not. Courtesy goes a long way.

This may allow some wiggle-room if you have to fight a ticket:

“If it is not safe or feasible to move over, motorists must slow to a reasonable and prudent speed that is safe for existing weather, road, and vehicular or pedestrian traffic conditions.”

In that instance just lift your foot off the "go" peddle.

Nothing to see here
I was hoping this was a thread on people driving slow in the left passing lane needing to get in the right lane. A friend told me of someone he knew got pulled over and given a ticket for impeding traffic going slow in the passing lane. This was in Atlanta.

We pay politicians to sit around and think up stupid crap like this.

They don't think up this stuff, it's lobbied for. Someone got hit while on the side of the road, and now it's a law. As if making it illegal would suddenly cure driving inattention.
