Where else would you find such things as stuffed ham and blue crabs? :howdy: So my answer is Yes...this is my hometown.

I think it's great! Nice climate (well, most of the time), some nice bicycling routes, lotsa fishing and water sports, it's about 1&1/2 to 2 hours drive to Wash DC where there's oodles of cultural stuff, not to mention the nice fishing tackle salesmen who greet you by saying "Dee Baa Gaa, Cap'm!"

I hear it quite frequently in places like bait & tackle shops. I just figure it's normal, like cows say "Moo" and pigs say "Oink" and southern Marylanders say "Dee Baa Gaa, Cap'm!"

And then I've heard folks from Long Island claim they've never heard their home town referred to as "Lawn Guyland" and folks from the Finger Lakes area of New York claim they've never heard anybody mention buying a new "beetery" for their "care" and folks from Nebraska who claim they've never heard anybody say they do their laundry in a "worshing" machine.

I have the 2005 Crime Rate books for all three counties right here on my desk. Breaks the crime rate down in nice neat litle sections for each area.

I'm sorry if you are offended but the facts speak for themselves.

Not so much offended as having the WHOLE city ONLY being described as a high crime area. Not everyone who lives in Lex Pk is experiencing that. Just like many in PG and DC don't experience that. Believe it or not there are decent areas here where people are not experiencing that.

And to make it seem like the crime is happening all day long every day all over this city is just wrong. I won't say things don't happen here because there are areas that can be off the hook, but to try to scare people away from the entire city like it's a criminal war zone when it's more like certain neighborhoods is just unnecessary.

Saying "worsh" is also very Maryland. "Worshington, DC"

I say this all the time.

Lex.Pk Bad but dont go over board

Yes, Lexington park is getting worst and has the most crime. But, many people drive on great mills road to get to work and nothing happens. I am a women and I drive go shopping during the day in Lex. Pk. just not at night. The police here are not bad just over worked they need help. I have lived here for 25 years and I love St. Mary's co. I live North of Lex. Park. Hollywood and Leonardtown have the best schools but that is just my opinion. Good luck.

I grew up in L.P. City. Granted, things are not as nice or as safe as they used to be,but I am not afraid to go anywhere in that vicinity to shop after dark or any time. You won't ,however, catch me walking anywhere after dark.

I have a house for sale in the Leonardtown Area. It's not under 250,000. the price is 284,900.00 with 5,000 closing help. In other words 279,900. The Price is negotiable to an extent. If you contact the listing agent directly Joe Van Kirk we can knock off an additional 2.5% of the sale price. I work at Pax River and my commute time is 15 minutes. See the following link.

Good post. I agree with you too. There seems to be a high degree of snobbery at this forum.

I live in the Acton Village section of Waldorf (OMG111!), another supposed 24/7 warzone. My wife and I don't live in constant fear. And.......we actually live in peace with our neighbors - WOW who would have thought?!!!!

I live in Lexington Park and I have no problem whatsoever with crime. The neighborhood that I live in is very quiet and my family and I feel safe. We have never had any problems with crime in our area.
