We were driving around the area this morning and we think two of the ranch clubs Picnic tables from Seahorse Beach are located over at Drum Point, you make a left on Barredda, left on Lake Drive, go all the way to the end until you see the water, make a left, your picnic tables are up on the rocks, still connected to the board!!! It was a sight to see, no less. I hope all is well with everyone.

Our crews were delighted to hear they were down there.

We are all messed up.... there are still people without power because of trees on the lines. Down on Big Bear, Mesa Trail there are lines laying in the road and a couple of poles were demolished. A number of houses have trees though the roof. Our Beaches and Campgrounds took a reall pummelling... Golden West Way and several other roads are closed. It's a disaster.... I just went by the office and a couple of our people were grabbing something to eat before they went back out again. They were working until 2AM to clear roads and keep the roads open as best they could for emergency vehicles. They came back in at 8 this morning and started all over again... they look exhausted.

We have something that looks like a big boiler or some kind of tank that washed up on shore at Driftwood Beach. I don't know how we're going to get it cleared out... It's bigger than a car... We also lost a lot of both beaches to the water.... the surf is still pounding...

I went to the Food Lion [first time!] and the shelves are full, bread, milk and toilet peper are stocked full. I don't think anyone knew this storm was going to be this bad...

How is Drum Point?

That boiler thing you speak of, I aswell don't know exaclty what it is. But just for reference. It was about a mile further north on Driftwood beach along the cliffs until Ernesto moved it again. Isabel brought it to our beaches the first time. However I do find it quite hillarious that until about 6 p.m. today there was not a Smeco truck to be seen. At that point they arrived on the beach, were escorted to where ever they needed to be and POOF the power was back in no time. But I realize the CRE is not a priority to some other places. Nothing as bad as Isabel though, thank goodness, and no lives lost :).

Drum point fared well. I think Lake Drive was pretty hard hit, with four trees going down close to one another. One crashed into the roof of a house. One demolised a front porch and hung over the road for 12 hours. Electic and phone lines are lying on the ground still... anyway, they are still without power on that half of the road. I walked down to drum point beach this morning and saw both picnic tables. They don't look like they are going anywhere without some help. There was also a jet ski washed up. Lots of branches down.

Seems to be that mostly the coastal areas were the hardest hit, as is expected of course. But as far as total damage I'd say we made off pretty well. St. Mary's got it bad though.

Jeffrey Brown, 37, stayed with his wheelchair-bound father rather than evacuate St. George Island, which juts into the Potomac River where the river meets the Chesapeake Bay.

Three feet of water came into the home, soaking the floors and carpeting that they had replaced after Tropical Storm Isabel, he said.

"I didn't sleep too well last night," Brown said, looking haggard. "It was bad, real bad."

None of the communities that were platted before 1980 are a priority.

I'm glad you are ok...

My dad was a Navy Chief... I know all those places in Virginia Beach... I have family there....

This storm was much much worse than I thought it was going to be.

Yeah, VA beach was flooded much of Friday, but still navigable for the most part. Where main roads were flooded, back roads we usable to get around.

They have been flooding for years... the water table is so high that there's no where for the rain run off to go.... 30 years ago the sewage use to back up too... but they have that under better control now...

I use to live in Princess Ann Plaza and Lynnhaven areas... Then I lived at 23rd & Pacific... Great Place until the building explosion... now it's still better than Waldorf but way to easy to get lost... it all looks the same... no more beautiful farmland or long stretches of beach..... They definitely "paved paradise..." It's a shame....

You should write letter to FEMA. and put a sign on your roof in BIG letters

"BUSH hates White People"

I really think DISASTER is a little dramatic... an inconvenience maybe.. but DISASTER??

No big deal, lets see what tomorrow brings..

The cliffs took a battering too! Disaster is the term we need the government to use for Calvert County so that CRE can "maybe" recoup some of the costs of tree removal from the roads.

We should have signs on our houses that says "Calvert County hates CRE", White Sands, and Drum Point [along with a number of other communities platted before 1980]

I was at a meeting a couple of weeks ago for the Mill Creek Watershed Program.... One of my neighbors said "I live in CRE...." starting a sentence so that he could establish the basis of his question... and a Calvert County employee remarked "I'm sorry to hear that!".

We have been hearing that for decades. The last two Board of Commissioners claim that they have made strides to end that kind of attitude but it's still there.

We are paying the same taxes as everyone else in the county and we get that kind of treatment.....

Hi everybody

Hope things are getting a little better for you. I must commend Drum Point Property's Association. For what I could see they did a fantastic job at getting the place cleaned up. The houses hit on Lake Drive really bad, Drum Point immediately hired outside contractors to get those trees out of the roadway and their was a house that had two trees fall not letting the people able to get out of the house, they cleaned all of that mess up too. I think Drum Point did the best thing when they put the rocks up protecting two of the roads along the beach, it doesn't seem the water did any damage to the roads this time. But from what I hear if only SMECO would show up, Drum Point will be fine.

Great News! I am so glad that Drum Point is getting back to normal.

In CRE our crews have been working to get the roads clear. Some of the power outages that remain are due to downed lines. That always takes a while....

Becky, are you going to attend the Solomons Lador day festival today?

Nothing to see here
Seems to me that St Marys and Charles counties have done a far better job of getting out info for dealing with this weather that we've had. You folks running for office in Calvert should address that.
