So now we know that we can't depend on the Reverse 911 service for emergency information if the power is off. We also know that we generally loose power in the first several hours of a major storm or hurricane.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to stay informed?

A co worker told me that Reverse 911 called his home in CRE. I was wondering why they didn't call my work too?

I noticed that most radio stations went down during the storm. The local ones that were on were playing their normal stuff.

yeah, i couldn't find anything on the radio, the rocket was busy with park rock fest, WKIK was playing normal country with the occasional blurb about Ernesto's current where abouts, but nothing useful. We have battery powered, and the hand wound type of radio, which is pretty nice in winter if you run out of batteries and don't want to go out in the ice.

yeah they did call, but the times for going and getting the dry ice, 8-10 pm on saturday night? it was absurd how they were handling things. I guess it was a play it by ear situation, hoping power would be restored, and when it wasn't, then they decided to send out the call. The call didn't come until about 7 pm.
