My cats are angry with me...

How can something so cute smell so bad? This little guy stinks. He came with a brand new bag of the food he's been eating. It's good stuff, but I don't think it agrees with him. His gas is loud and foul. My cats were warming up to him, but now, they seem to be keeping their distance again. I think it's time to switch kitten food.

Maybe he has Mega-Colon? I hope not, but it's possible.

He goes for a check up Monday, I'll ask about it. My daughter told me about it when we first got him, I didn't believe her. I was holding him tonight and wow, he let loose.

On a serious note, our shelter cat, Sox, who is deaf, had an awful intestinal problem when we first got him. It wasn't diarrhea but looked gelatinous, and was bacterial related, but over time with meds, it was resolved. That was 12 years ago, and I don't have the vet papers anymore. So, I don't know exactly what it was, and he has had no incidence since. I know you love your new kitty, and I hope all goes well.

Just to be clear. The meds were a one time thing back when he was 6 months old. He has not been on any meds of any kind since then, for anything, and he is now going on 13.

His poo looks normal, it's bigger than him. I have a feeling it's the food he's eating. I'll talk to the vet on Monday. Otherwise, he seems healthy and happy. He loves the dog and the dog loves him, maybe it's the smell the dog loves. :killingme

I was just going to edit that Sox's poop still has a high level of stink! I had to put a hook on the laundry room, so the cats could get through but not the dogs, because they would eat the crap out of the catbox. :jet: I think the dogs smell protein, or something.

I have a cat door to the laundry room, the dog can't get there. I have three litter boxes in there that I scoop every three days. 4 cats now.

I have a ton of paperwork from when I got him that he was gone over with a fine tooth comb before adoption. I don't think this is something that just started, my daughter noticed it in the car when she took him out of the carrier. I think it's the food and the people I got him from didn't notice since he was in a cage with other kittens from the same litter.

I think in general some cats just stink more than others. Food can make a difference in the level of stink though. I've come across some tiny kittens that could stink up a room faster than a 50 lb dog LOL

They say he is perfectly healthy, just gassy, may have something to do with the fact that he eats so fast, may have competed with a lot of other kittens at one point, and takes in a lot of air when he eats. The day we took him to the vet, we had to leave the windows down the entire way, it was that bad. They say he will probably grow out of it. I feed him separate from the other cats, one, because he's eating kitten food and two so he doesn't feel like he's got to eat so fast thinking they are going to take it from him.

Sounds like you have a handle on it. I agree he will probably outgrow it. I always feel so bad for the critters that eat so fast they don't even taste the food. The Chocolate Lab Mix we have available for adoption is like that. She was terribly thin when she showed up so we do believe she was starved.

This little guy was very thin too, he is filling out nicely now. All 3 other cats seem to like him now, they sleep in a pile most of the time. I think once he realizes he doesn't have to eat fast, he'll be fine.

This guy is a hoot. At 2:30 this morning he somehow managed to find a crinkly candy wrapper and decides to bring it up on my bed and play with it right by my ear (at 2:30 in the morning a candy wrapper right by your ear sounds like a raging forest fire). When I rolled over to see what he was doing he let loose right in my face, goodness, I sure hope he grows out of this soon.

I'm jealous... :ohwell:

I have video but won't post it because I hate my recorded voice but my 2 year old cat is PISSED that we brought home a kitten and has been growling at me for TWO MONTHS now. AND... she pooped on my bed and peed on my pillow while she was under the supervision of a house sitter when we all went on vacation. We took the kitten with us because I was afraid she'd hurt him and I didn't want to trap him in a room by himself while we were gone. He loved the beach and travels very well. My old cat doesn't give one iota about the new kitten as long as her food bowl gets filled on time but my 2-year old kitty is just being a total brat about her new roommate. One day, he'll get bigger and kick her ass for how mean she is being. She's so mad she growls at everyone including the dog now. I get tired of hearing the growling and toss her out the door, often.

Advice, anyone?

I bought the brat a new toy and have been playing with her but as soon as playtime ends, she is back to being a beyotch. I don't get it... I walk the kitten and she follows me like she's interested in what he is checking out but each time he comes around her she swats & growls at him. TWO MONTHS NOW!!!
It is getting old.

Fine, no advice... I'm just going to start punching this mean beyotch in the throat and I mean that. I've read all the websites on suggestions and nothing is working... It isn't fair to the kitten to be doing nothing and have her come over and swat his head like she is dribbling a basketball. :tantrum

The only true relief I know I'll have is when *he* gets bigger and can fight her back.

Took the little guy to get his last shot today, rabies, guess he had to be a certain age to get it. He only weighs 4 pounds, still fits in the palm of my hand. I don't think he realizes how small he is the way he man handles the bigger cats. I walked in earlier and he had the biggest cat flat on his back in a headlock. I think we may end up having a new alpha male in the house.:killingme

Yesterday was my birthday and the day didn't start out well as I was heading out the door and watched my mean girl chase my old girl down in the front yard and attack her. I screamed at her and said she outta be glad it is my birthday or I'd take her to the dog pound. When I got home from work, I noticed my father was there (nice surprise) and I asked if my mean kitty was in the house. He said yes and that for the 45 minutes he had already been there... she seems to be fine with the other animals. I guess my birthday present from the cats is harmony... we shall see how long she stops her preemptive strikes. :fingerscrossed:

It takes some cats longer than others. I think because mine are all indoor and are pretty much stuck with each other, they knew they had no choice but to get along.
