My Dog was attacked.

pain and suffering of the owner
Pain and suffering over a dog they obviously did not care much for. That would be the way.

Almost encourages one to shoot it then bury it, then deny seeing it when the owner comes around. (You can tell I've been playing Mafia Wars again...)

^^ That was ME!!

Oh please. I'm all for animal welfare, but not at the expense of my pets, kids, or livestock. I'm sure most people on here would agree.

The three S's. Shoot, shovel, and shut up. If there ever came a time I had to shoot a dog for harming my pets, kids, or livestock, I would NEVER let the owner know I killed it. That's just asking for trouble.

You're wrong. I've seen posts where the animal people would save an animal over humans on multiple occasions. I remember after Katrina when people were floating down a river stuck on their roof tops and ppl on here were gathering resources to go save animals. Totally ridiculous!

I have 7 acres - but when I go out with my dogs (not leashed) I always have my .357 Magnum in my pocket - just in case! Especially at night!
:yay: That would be the only cure. A friend of mine in Ohio had to start carrying when he went for a walk. A lot of Coyotes in his area.

Why does it bother you to see people want to help animals? Did you raise money or donate or go help the Katrina people? If not, shush. And you know, part of saving animals during Katrina WAS for the people. I went to an emergency animal rescue training specifically for natural disasters. You might not realize it, but having their pets safe generally makes people calmer and more likely to seek shelter themselves. So, in a way, saving the animals does help save the people.

I know... this was 1pm today... I never thought about another dog just coming out of no where... no I have learned my lesson-though it was a tough one.

We are okay, my doggy is just all beat up and scared.

:huggy:

Sorry to hear about your dog. Any idea at all who the other dog belongs to?

If an animal comes on your property and is actively trying to harm you or you pets/family you are within the law to defend yourself/them. To plan something is a different story. You cannot put out poison etc and bait an animal with the intent to kill them. An animal will not automatically (but could) be put down by animal control for attacking. In Charles County there would be a hearing to deem him/her dangerous and vicious. If it is deemed dangerous and/or vicious there are a number of things that will be required of the owner to ensure it doesn't happen again. After that, if it does happen the owner would be found in violation and it is very possible the dog would be destroyed.

You win the coveted :whoosh: :lmao:

It doesn't bother me to see people want to help animals. The point was many on here place animals over humans on the pecking order scale and that is absurd. Anyone who thinks an animal comes before a human is a kook.

Why does he argue if he agrees? :lmao:
It's my nature. :diva:

Really though. With the exceptions I mentioned, humans come first. You save people from floods before animals.

Gawd forbid it's you and a puppy floating down a rapid and the rescuers throw a net over the puppy leaving you to go over the falls.

Remember, most of those people sitting on their rooftops were the same people that CHOOSE not to vacate. And I'm sure you had some nice comments for these people, I just don't feel like searching for it.

There were some who remained because they were not permitted to take their pets to shelters. In that instance, I would have remained as well.

You're right, I recall I did. They deserved what they got.

And you'd deserve what you got. If I am warned that the worst storm of the century was about to take me out, Buddy and Zoey are on their own. My life is more important to me and my family than theirs is.

This is my opinion on the Katrina situation as well. Humans who make bad choices for themselves should deal with the consequences of those choices. Animals who rely on humans to do the humane thing deserve human intervention.

By that same token I'm of the opinion that the old disabled folks that were inhumanely left behind were in the same boat (pardon the pun ) and feel it was humane of those nurses who put them gently to sleep rather than let them drown.
