My friend's cat bit him

Yes. It's important to have the bite seen by a doctor. I've always had cats and an occasional bite, but I immediately cleaned it and used either peroxide or rubbing alcohol on it. Fortunately, I didn't need to see a doctor for infection.

Mom on the hand did get bit and got an infection. Dr put her on antibiotics to clear it up.
Interesting, I have always "play fought" with our cats and have been scratched and bitten hard enough to draw blood countless times. And no, the cats aren't trying to draw blood it's usually from me trying to jerk away a second too late and scratching myself on their teeth and claws. But our cats don't go outside so maybe that's the difference.

Maybe, but there is still the litter box to consider.

Just a normal cat bite - pissy cat acting out. He didn't think anything of it until it started blowing up around the wound and he was feeling weak. He had major sepsis and spent 3 days in the hospital.

:yikes:

And it's just a normal house cat, not some weird feral or anything.

Have you ever heard of anything like this?
Happens all the time, just like getting punctured by a crab claw!
