Monteray's is more Americanized, but I am not so sure about their food having more flavor. Tends to be very bland so that nobody can cry that it's too hot or spicy. There's one girl I know who won't even think of eating salsa and chips because it's too hot, who loves that place and thinks she actually eating Mexican. I get tickled when somebody gets up in arms over the "white sauce" there which is frigging ranch dressing with a little paprika and chili pepper.mkd20012001 said:I've only been once and I thought it was pretty good. They also have burgers and stuff. I still like the the mexican food better at Montery's. It has more flavor.
Ok, I'll remember to never listen to your reviews when it comes to food. I get better Mexican from a can than I do from Monterey.qbee said:I went there for the first time last night and I must say the fried ice cream was premo I give them the food was not better then Monterey though.

Monterey definitely isn't as good as it used to be. When they first opened, C_Jo and I loved it and went a couple times a month. But I find it quite yucky now. Except for that awesome white sauce! (Is it really just dressed up Ranch dressing? )getbent said:I went to Montereys at lunch couple weeks ago. I oredered chicken enchilladas (sp?) anywho, it had chicken and oinions inside and a little cheese and the sauce on top. Nothing mixed with the inside stuff. I've eaten there before and seem to remember more to it. I'd rather go to Salsa's, JMO
Yep. I'll get you the recipe so that you can make as much of it as you want at home with C_Jo.K_Jo said:Monterey definitely isn't as good as it used to be. Using the word cream in front of food doesn't sound very appealing... to me...HollywoodLady said:I had the cream enchiladas, my daughter had the cream burrito
Actually, the spicy mexican food is more Americanized than authentic. Tex-Mex tends to be spicy, but if you go to Mexico and get past the tourist areas the food is not much different than Monterey. Yes, there is some authentic mexican food that is spicy, but it is the exception not the rule.migtig said:Monteray's is more Americanized, but I am not so sure about their food having more flavor. Yeah, the most authentic Mexican food I ever had was in a little fishing town in Sonora, tamales filled with chicken skin and olive pits, not spicy at all.MMDad said:Actually, the spicy mexican food is more Americanized than authentic. I would love to have a good Tex-Mex restaurant here, though. It's frustrating to have to use hot sauce on the food just to get some flavor into it.
