BUT: I've been there. I have 2 wonderful friends, known him since kindergarten, her for about 10 years. We are all very close, and she is a very important piece in my life. I was always buying her things, just because I could. And yes, some things were rather expensive, like new boots so she could go riding with me. He was fine with it. And there was never, and never will be any hanky-panky and I never gave him any reason to doubt or suspect either of us. It is a possible scenario.
BUT: I'm not so sure that was the case in the OP's post. He was not happy with the gifts, and the wife does appear to be gift-happy.
I am also thinking you are not a 'jerk'. Just a guess though, could be wrong...

Right. I kinda thought that was assumed because the ad posted was for the body wash. I rarely use cologne.
