Napless 4yr. olds cuffed and threatened at school

They call me ... Sarcasmo
Why? When some kid is punished for refusing to follow the established rules and is disruptive to others, and the parents step in and sue the city because some public official made the kid comply, what does that teach the child?

I'm trying to see in the article where the either of the kids were considered "disruptive".

Why wasn't a simple removal from the classroom enough? Maybe the SUBSTITUTE teacher should have asked one of the administrators for a little guidance on the "problem".

My "over the top" comment was aimed at your supposition that these kids are going to grow up and be crybaby jerkwads because the parents want to sue.

anyone else notice that this whole story is coming from the parents, one of whom flat out contradicts their own child in what they say happened? who's to say that they ( children or parents) didn't make the whole thng up?
Thank you - I was going to mention that as well.

handcuffed by a school-safety officer -

I have cuffs, does that mean i have the right to cuff your kid for not taking a nap?
If it was nap time at school and you were the school safety officer (PC for rent a cop) and they weren't napping while disrupting. Go ahead. Then call me so I can scare the fear of God in them.

there are a whole lot of things left out of that article, such as any evidence that any part of the story is true.

That which is not illegal is legal. So, how is it illegal?

So there is a law that states 4 year olds *must* nap? If it is, cool. I just don't see that being a law.

And when did napping in K even start? My son went full day K 4 years ago and they didn't nap.

No, you were saying that the cuffing was a crime. What crime was committed?

I could be wrong, but ifferent schools have different rules. Then again, I haven't read up on every schools policies.

The story may be exaggerated. The kids might not have been cuffed. Regardless of that you should never tell a child they won't see their parents again unless they do what you are telling them to do. That's a very big scare tactic and that's something every child abuser in the world tells a victim. That and "nobody will believe you." No, I am not saying this person abused these kids. I am just saying using that scare tactic was wrong.

Wonder if the parents are legal

Wouldn't you think you had to do something to get 'cuffed'? They didn't do anything according to the article. Rent-A-Cop threatend the kids and cuffed them.

Yeah, I'd think that they must have disobeyed the teacher.

By not sleeping!!! That is my whole freaking point-you can't force someone to go to sleep!!!!!!

do you honestly belief that is the full extent of the story? ALL they did was nt go to sleep during naptime and someone put them in handcuffs?

just because their parents say that's what happened, doesn't mean it's the whole story or true at all.

You're right, the whole story isn't here. But I choose to base my answers on what is available and not add/create different scenarios and what not. It is what it is.

From what was given--the sub and the rent-a-cops were wrong.
