Brenda you are missed!!!
ok so we went and spoke to someone about joing the navy, we were told about the "tarp program" I believe its called... Can someone thats in the Navy give me more info on this please... Also the hubby did a test for them lastnight and score an 76% and they said that was GREAT.. I was thinking it was ok... Then some other guy came out and said Mr. Raynor you did great most ppl score around a 32-35%.. I was like what and you let these ppl in( he started laughing) he said that's an Avg score around here.. Then he said your husbands been out of school( highschool) 9 years now so that's really good...He said he should score like 10-15 more points on the "real rest". He told the hubby he can pretty much pick any job he wants... How true do yall believe that??? Any info would be great on this program... I know I asked about the "Navy" last week here but now I have other questions...

It is "TAR" the ASVAB is not rocket science.

I agree, (TAR) Training Active Reservist. WHATever the recruiter agrees too, get it in writing on his enlistment contract. Also now would be a good time to think about a job he might enjoy doing that may be marketable when or if he decides to seperate or retire from the service... :coffee:

I was sitting in a bar one afternoon pondering my future and after about 10 beers, I noticed a Navy recruiting office across the street. Staggered over to see what they had to offer and they handed me their little test and said this one was just for "pratice" it didn't really count but it would let them know what I was qualified for. Took the test, the recuirter graded it and said "Have you ever considered working with nuclear power?"
You were correct in thinking 76% is OK

TAR is a good deal. They train the reserve folks who are the "weekend warriors". The down side is they work weekends.
A long time ago I worked for the recuiter for 2 weeks and they had me send out prospect cards on any highschooler who scored above 35. Hey, they need BMs and HTs in the navy also.

Make the voices stop!!!!!
TAR Training and Admistration of Reserves. Yes, you do work weekends, usually one drill weekend and one TAC weekend a month. The TAR community is a little more limited in the rates (jobs) that are available, but there are plenty. 12 years as a TAR, hope this helps.

Here is a website that may provide some answers: Click Here

The TAR program is a program that has active duty sailors assigned in support positions with the local reserve command. The best place to get information about the program is to visit the nearest reserve command.
