Need a trustworthy used car dealership

Hello everyone, I am in need of a car and I am looking for a used car dealership that is trustworthy and good. I can't afford to be ripped off at this time but I really need to replace my car. I'm looking for a used car thats no older than 5 years. If anyone could offer name(s)/location of a dealership that you have dealt with and are pleased with I would really appreciate it. thanks so much

Need a trustworthy used car dealership

Oxymoron

:lmao:

Its true... I used to work for a New/Car Dealership, one of those ones that is owned by the same person who owns 99% of the Ford and Dodges in SoMD.

I remember telling people year this is a one owner car, it used to be owned by Hertz Rental Car company. now I worked there in July - Aug 07, and it was a 2007 Taurus with around 20-35k miles on them. We'd get them in by the dozens.

I would suggest getting financed through your bank and find a private seller who has proof of the car.

My advice is to stay away from Used Car dealerships.

Go to a new Car Dealership that sells it's own trade-In used cars.

Most Used Car Dealerships buy their cars at auction . New Car dealerships get their's as trade-ins for new cars . They keep the best for sale and auction the junk. Now some of them do buy auctioned cars also, but for the most part theys sell their trades. They also have a repair facility while many used car dealerships just hire a jack leg mechanic to keep their stuff rolling.

I recently bought a used car from Southern Toyota and have been happy with it and them. In the past I have bought cars from Bell Motor in Leonardtown and have had good luck with them also. Bell will sometimes give you the name of who traded the car if you bother to ask.

I will agree with on the used car dealerships, while i dont regret buying my truck i know i should have went to a big dealer.

Now with toyota, they said since i was a first time buyer they could put me in a $12k trailblazer, but they could put me a $16k camry or a $18k 4 runner. While i know they give incentives to first time buyers and incentives for toyota's, it didnt make any sense that they could sell me a vehcile that was over $6k more than what i was looking at.

Where you taking multiple prescription drugs when you came up with a crazy idea like this one?

Since most used car dealerships in the So Md area get their used cars from public auto auctions, just cut out the middle man and go to a car auction... You'll see all of your favorite local dealers there as well.

Mason Dixon Auto Auction is their favorite

Don't know about down here.. but in the NE most auto auction places required a dealers license.. they weren't open to the general public

Yes, BUT, you only need a dealers license if you are purchasing the vehicle for resale purposes (tax exempt). All auto auctions in the tri-state area are open to the public, EXCEPT for the ones that are pre noted as "wholesale / private".

I have bought three used vehicles from Waldorf Chrysler Jeep. Two were pre-certified and one was not. Two were internet specials. I have never had a problem with any of the cars. They stand behind their cars.

I bought my first car from guy motors in mechanicsville. Had 24% interest. The wiper blade broke the first time i used it in the rain. Tres had to be replaced within 2 months i believe. Some kind of bearing (sp?) broke or something like that. whatever it was, it should of never passed inspection. took it back to guy motors and they said it wasnt their problem cause they just sold it, didnt inspect it. told me i had to take it to the mechanic in waldorf. the mechnic told me it wasnt their problem and to go back to guy motors. i told the mechanic that i wasnt going to drive back and forth so i would call the cops and ask them who's job it was to fix my car. i didn't have to call the cops, the mechanic fixed it right then and there. The car was pretty good after I fixed a couple problems.

I ended up paying waaaayyy more then that car was worth but crap happens.

Well, on the 3rd of March it will be THREE months my son has been without a car.

This last week the Ford Dealership called Hodges and said, "Cars fixed, come get it!" Next morning my son called Hodges at 800AM with the temp about 31, he asked to be put on hold while they went and started it. It didn't start, it's still not fixed.

I would never buy a Ford car myself after my experiences with the Fords we had as GOV's but I thought this one was a good bet.. a 2001 with <36000 miles on it.

Now my son has been paying for this car for the last 3 months while it sits at the dealership.. and then they tell him he owes $650 for the "repairs" that as of yet haven't worked.

At the 75 day mark we went to Hodges and fought with them about a resolution. They FINALLY decided to let my son have a loaner after I described driving through our current weather on a bike, as I loaned my son my truck to get back and forth from School and WOrk (it's what a dad does yanno).

THey PROMISED the car would be fixed by the 29th, I gave them until the 15th of March before I required some kind of permanent resolution.

I really think this should have been settled 2 months ago, but here we are 3 months later still fighting the battle, and why should we be fighting it, why can't the dealership do the right thing, admit they sold a bad car, and work out a resolution??

my first car was a 89 ford tempo. I got it around 1999 or 2000, not sure. don't remember how many miles it had on it but it was a piece of crap. It is no where comparable to your sons car but it made me think of the winters I had with my Tempo. It would never start if it was cold otside. Luckily I had a co-worker who worked close by who didnt mind giving me a ride.

I couldn't believe you were out in that. I saw you ride by in the pouring rain, barely 35 degrees....

I can't believe this is still going on...I remember talking with you about it in another thread a month or so ago...

I hope THEY get the problem resolved soon... What a PITA.

We bought our pre-owned Expedition from Prince Frederick Ford. I give them :yay: :yay: Got a great extended warranty with it and it isn't that 3rd party junk warranty either

We took it to a Ford dealer up in Glen Burnie when the rear differential was leaking and they fixed it - and provided a Enterprise rental, FREE.
