Need a whole lot of white sweet corn (Calvert)

I know corn is pretty cheap (on the cob). My father-in-law (china) is visiting. I'm buying corn (20 to 30 ears) a week. I see cornfields everywhere in calvert county. I was wondering if I could buy it directly from them. Hell, I'll even go into their field and pick it myself (with permission).

Does anybody know anywhere where you can pick your own corn?

I found this website, but doesn't have much info on Calvert. It does have listings for lots of farms in the state, but I didn't specifically see corn. Maybe there is a contact on the site that could help you in your search. Love the local corn! We have some just about every nite. :yum:

You could try:

Linda's Plant and Produce , Port Republic , MD

Corn, cantaloupes, watermelons, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, cut flowers, potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, squash, cucumbers, mums, hanging baskets, bedding plants, and vegetable plants. DIRECTIONS: Produce stand: .25 mile off Route 4 on Broomes Island Road. Greenhouses: 4 miles off Route 4 on Broomes Island Road on left.

Most of what you see along the road will be field corn....not very sweet. You need sweet corn, and 20 ears a week isnt that much. Stop at your local farmers market. They should have it. Dont pick along side the road. You might end up with some unintended holes....

We got some Sweet Corn from Chesapeake's Bounty this weekend, and it was the best!! I forget the price. It's located on the southern end of St. Leonard Road.

I've heard great things about Linda's for a while now but still haven't gotten there to check it out. I'm always looking for new local places for plants and produce. Think I'll stop by there this week sometime.

I always buy produce from there (and my XMAS tree every year too!). But I bought corn 3 weeks ago from them and we were disappointed that it had little flavor. I'll give them another try though, I've never been disappointed before.

I would say that Corn is probably MUCH better now, than it was 3 weeks ago. I'm glad you'll give them another try. It's a good, honest little Local Business, and they aim to please.

Absolutely, like I said I shop there often. I'd never give up on them so quickly. Been going there regularly since we moved here almost 5 years ago and this was the first not so great purchase ever. I'll be there Friday again for their corn, tomatoes, peppers & flowers. :smile:
