If it is slow browser loading, it could be the browser:
Seven Alternate Web Browsers for Kindle Fire; Amazon Silk Needs Work | The eBook Reader Blog
Another thing with the Silk web browser is that it is supposed to be really fast because it is a “cloud-accelerated” browser that uses Amazon’s servers to speed up loading times. A lot of folks have found that going into settings and turning off accelerated page loading actually increasing the Silk web browser’s speed. I just did a quick test and would have to agree.

Absolutely. DSL is one of the slowest networks available, from .5 to 3 Mb/s. If the kids are comparing it to their friends with cable or FIOS service, it will seems like a snail.

I have DSL, and I just deal with it because I'm the only one in the house and it's cheap. As soon as you start putting multiple people on it and attempting to do more than check email or surf, it's going to bog and become useless.

That's pretty much what I thought. I know DSL is slow but we don't do much on the computer but email and surf. Didn't have an issue until the Kindles. I was told that increasing the bandwidth will help, even with DSL, but I wonder how much $ that will be.

I will check it out.

Something wrong with your DSL service then, I have Verizons 3MB and can watch streaming HD movies on it.

Anyone know how I get my bandwidth increased? Call Verizon? We have the Triple Play right now (phone/DSL/DTV). Don't want to switch to Fios. Just want the bandwidth increased.
