Your 3 year old isn't retarded
B's niece has a form of autism that wasn't diagnosed until she was 5.
Your 3 year old isn't retarded
Autism and retardation are not the same thing.
Does sleeping count?
That's all well and good, but the point is the father thought the 7 year old was responsible enough to take care of the 3 year old. Obviously he was wrong.

:fixed: Alot of autistics are some of the happiest, innocent, carefree people you'd ever want to meet. The greatest worry of the day in my sons life is "what's for dinner Dad?"Neither was the 3 year old discussed. He is autistic. It is not his choice and will be his parents burden for the rest of their lives. Please use some discretion.

So? I'm guessing a 14 year old could take better care of a 3 year old than a 7 year old could. But hey, that's just a guess.

Hi.Well Mistress Mary.... That depends on the individual child. I'd trust my 6 year old over my brother when he was 14 ANY day.
The fact of the matter is without knowing the specifics of the situation that's being discussed one can not say if it was a bad judgement call on the part of the father or just a kid being a kid and doing what they wanted opposed to what they were told they were allowed to.

Exactly! So he shouldn't trust his older child to watch the 3 yr old.
I'm sure my mother doesn't trust my 6 year old to babysit my 3 year old but she let's him hold his hand as they walk through the yard to the neighbors house. It's easy to be the perfect parent and have all the answers from a 30,000 foot view.
As was this child.
