Neutering question

$4oo.........good lord. I had my mastiff spayed, microchipped and x-ays done to check her hips for less than that at my vet.......

It cost me a little over $400 to get my Rottie girl spayed at the vet in Upper Marlboro. My regular vet wouldn't do it because she weighed 125 lbs (big boned girl lol), so he referred me to the vet in Upper Marlboro that had better facilities to handle a bigger dog.

My dog it 13.5 pounds! It is actually 359, a little less because he is already microchipped. But I still think that's high for a neuter- much as I love my pup!

most of the time you are paying for bloodwork (not like it a bad idea to do it... seeing that the kidneys and liver do break down the anesthesia.. so this will let you know if the liver and kidneys are working right)... and yes i have seen pups have issues with the liver and kidneys at that age.

also they usually give fluids during the procedure to help flush the anesthesia form the body.

they also pay for monitoring ... (its always a plus to have someone who KNOWS what is going on.. and know how NOT TO let your dog go too deep.. or come to shallow) Also they can catch things with their o2 levels, bp, and heart rhythms.

and you will find that they will do better pain drugs for afterwards

hmmmm. My vet has always worked on my mastiffs and the smallest one we had was 150lbs. Why did he refer you to a place all the way up there? (just curious)

He said that vet had specialized lifts, better monitoring equipment, and commented how my dog at 125 lbs weighed more than I did at 106 then. So he compared her to being human-like in weight or something like that. I think the name if the vet I went to in Upper Marlboro was Squire?
