I didnt want to post anything until I was sure we were keeping her. We have adopted a dog. Her name is Captn. Morgan. She is a boxer mix and we just love her. Got her from a woman who relocated here from Arizona and her living space and new job just didnt allow enough time or space for her. She is absolutely one of the sweetest dogs I've had the pleasure of meeting. We've had her for a week now and she is just a delight. I still miss my old girl, but Capt. Morgan is filling the emptiness since we lost her. I will post pictures as soon as I can figure it out. :yahoo:

Good for you and your family! We have a cat named Capt. Morgan.... I have been thinking of adopting another mutt after losing my Jezabelle girl 5 months ago. Need another female in this house of BOYS. Hope she fits in well!:howdy:

We rescued a chocolate lab a year ago and named her Capt Morgan - her coat is the color of rum. Hope she fills your heart like our Capt filled ours. Congrats!

Thanks All. I would like to take credit for the name, but her previous "Mom" gave it to her. I have to laugh because she is a very, hmmm..intimidating looking dog, but she is big teddy bear. She also has a slight dental problem involving an overbite on one side. But I think it adds to her looks. Anyway, we love her and I think, judging by the tailwagging, toy retrieving happy welcomes we get when we come home from work, she loves us.

On a sad note, my granddog, King, is going thru some rough times. My daughter has had him at the vet 3 times in the past two weeks. She called this morning to say the vet thinks it could be Pancreatis (?). Waiting to hear how he does when she feeds him rice, under the advisement of the vet. Has anyone else's dog gone thru this? Can you recommend vets, treatments, that she can try. TIA:howdy:

My dog had that and the rice/boiled chicken mixture helped. We also gave him Hills i/d.

We had a Dog that got Pancreatitis from eating a bag of Potatoes. She just loved them. Once we kept them out of her reach, she was fine! Well Wishes to your Granddog!

Thanks Roman, I'm hoping just a change in his diet and excerise will help him. My poor daughter is just so upset. If you dont mind, I'll pass this on to her, It may help her deal with it a little better.

Pets bring such joy into our lives. Capt Morgan is a lucky dog! I miss my poopies, and cannot have anymore (my cats would :cds:), but I am always happy to read happy poopy stories on the forum. Thanks for sharing your new addition. :yahoo:

This is our new addition to the family and I might add, the sweetest.

she is beautiful :). her name fits her just right. how old is capt morgan?

Here is another suggestion for the granddog. I got the boil in a bag rice (white rice) and boiled it for the time it said. then i got either ground chicken or ground turkey and boiled it and drained all the grease and rinsed it and mixed it in with the rice. I gave bruno when she gets messed up tummy a little bit at a time (1c) bruno is also a big dog i don't know what kind of dog your daughter has but if she has any questions she can ask me or you can ask me in pm as I deal with doggy and messed up tummy atleast once a month for about a week due to the locals feeding her stuff they shouldn't be feeding her (popcorn as she is allergic). I try to tell them but they all think they know better than I do being the dogs owner.
