So right next to the new Chick-Fil-A, they are building a new McDonald's...

Like we really need one??

Am I the only one who has a problem with this.. or did I miss a memo that they're going to close the old, recently restored one?

I thought I heard somewhere (maybe it was here) that that one is for the NB traffic where the other one is for SB traffic.

They're building it.
Your concerns don't matter because you didn't attend the zoning/planning meeting where they got issued a permit.

If the enocomic reality of sustainin two McDonalds in a small area dictates one close, it wiil.

Roy Rogers, sadly isn't coming back to La Plata. The owner's could not secure the funding. They did not own the land or the building that the old restaurant was on, and did not receive any money from the sell of that land.

Roy Rogers!! Heck yes!!

I'd love to know when it's coming back? ;(

It's not. Opps didnt see your post. Both McDonalds will survive. But they should be the other way around, southbound travelers should come to the southbound side one first and northbound travelers see the northbound one first. Any interstate travelers that come through LaPlata on 301, if not familiar with the area will cross over to the opposite side to stop at McD's, not knowing just up or down the road there is one on there side.

La Plata is quickly turning into Waldorf Lite.

That started happening before I moved away from Welcome. I think the last time I went through there was Christmas and I couldn't believe how much everything changed in under a year. I mean a Taco Bell and Chick fil a in Laplata

I'm still glad I'm gone, best decision I ever made. Finally away from Waldorf and all the trash thats expanding all around it like a disease spreading.

I still need to move farther out but I enjoy so much more now. I mean something as simple as a trip to Home depot or something.... In Waldorf I would go crazy, stupid non driving people, non english speaking.. just would drive me nuts to the point I would be in a fit of rage by the time I would get to the store and so mad I would just go home. Now I can go to stores in peace, it's so funny when I first moved I used to say wow it sure is empty here, now if there are 20 cars in the walmart parking lot I say wow it sure is crowded today. The worst days in WV are still way better than the best days in MD.

:gossip: there's no interstate in LaPlata

Not talking about people who use the interstate highway, people driving up and down 301 from say Delaware, New Jersey or New York are considered interstate drivers because they are using a connecting roadway (301) between two or more states..

what part WV you from. I was raised there and now live in Waldorf and still can't stand the crowdedness. No jobs in WV though.

Surprise, surprise...McDonald's owned the land and sold it to Walgreen's to get rid of the competition.

I grew up in Brandywine, lived in Welcome for a while then moved to WV last year. I'm in between Charles Town and Martinsburg. Still working in the DC area

I grew up till 13 in WV, then Alexandria, married moved to Brandywine, because of PG schools moved to Waldorf and now because of schools want to move again. I am from Ripley WV, between Charleston and Parkersburg. Lack of jobs mean a lot of drugs sad to say. Have a lot of family there, beautiful but gotta raise your kids where they can get a job.

:shrug:Wow - you take everything so personally -- you actually go into "a fit of rage" encountering someone who doesn't own or drive a car?? Why does that make them stupid? Their carbon footprint is lower and they are helping the environment and also staying fit, by not driving. I hope you never have to go to Amsterdam or Copenhagen in Europe -- most people there walk or bicycle everywhere they go. I have never seen anyone in Waldorf impeding traffic by walking or cycling on the roadway -- the ones I see at least, all politely stay out of the way on the shoulder - even when only a dirt shoulder. They do need to be encouraged, however, to wear bright colored clothing along with helmets.
