Love the Zeitronix unit.

I'm not too familiar with Pcar tuning - so can you directly modify the ecu maps?

Or, do you have to send out the ecu - get it burned - then install it again?

I have custom chips for my set up, but can make fine tune adjustments with the digital air/fuel controller across the rpm band.

So you can add/pull fuel etc.

Can you add/pull timing too?

Just curious.

I mess around and tune my car myself. A few enterprising individuals cracked the Mitsu code and came out with an openware app called: EcuFlash. With it I can add/pull fuel and timing. Actually you can do a whole bunch of things with it. Some guys just came up with a hack that will allow me to upload TWO maps and switch on the fly if I put some race gas in and raise the boost. Good stuff!

Pretty damn cool. Gives me complete control over the ecu. There's also an open source datalogger that actually records data from the ecu i.e. timing/fueling/knocksums etc.

I road tune - make a few pulls down near ridge - look at the data and adjust accordingly.

I'll be getting a bigger turbo soon so should be fun!

SWEET. we got some local STI owners here. i just have minor bolt ons... maybe one day replace that little tiny snail with a real turbo... best i got on mine was 12.88 on budds creek, my 4th run, ever. no tune (friend says I shift like his granma). its my grocery getter, too... pretty much had to beg the wife to let me bring it to the track, but she love it (american muscles). Im one of the black STIs

Wow, all that to go fast in a tuner car. Like it simple. Clean plugs, some CAM 2, a screw driver or hair pin for carb adjustments and maybe a tming light and ignition wrench and walla! I love the simple things in life!

It may sound like a lot, but it really isn't.

I just plug my laptop into my car - put it on the seat next to me - find some open road and do some 3rd gear pulls.

I have another piece of software that can simulate a dyno. It may not be accurate, but it at least enables me to see if the changes I made added more power.

When I first got my car I pulled a 13.xx @ 105ish. After some tuning and some power adders I was able to muster a 12.46 @ 112ish. I probably could have gotten a better ETA but I was mainly shooting for trap speed numbers.

No, all that to get 100hp per cylinder on pump gas and daily driver. :)

Not a whole lot of 800hp V8's out there that are fully streetable and daily driver. etc.

Actually, the modern turbo cars are way easier and cheaper to make really fast because all you do is turn up the boost, change the chip and you just added 100+hp in 15 min for a few hundred dollars.

A bigger carb is pretty easy and not to expensive, but have yet to see a carb swap alone add 100hp without also doing intake, head, exhaust, cam, etc. etc. etc.
