I guess the environmental snobs will be pissed when all the regular Joe's start buying "their" car.
Everyone has a 94 mpg car and gas prices will double to suck up your extra cash.Yup, BTW I'll believe 94 mpg when I see it. If true and they become more main stream, watch the price of gas sky rocket through .gov taxes just like Europe.
I think they get about 55 mpg now I cant see them almost doubling that in one years model, but if they can ,more power to them and place one on order for me.
too bad they're so ugly.
too bad they're so ugly.
I think that is part of the reason they are so sucessful, like I said environmental snobs want to be recognized in them. The Accord hybrid was not a success, I think the reason being that it looks the same as the gas powered Accord.
Here's one from Chevy. Electric with a gas motor that recharges the battery for long trips. Anyhting less than 40 (aprox) mile is total electric. After that, the motor turns on to charge the battery.
Chevrolet Volt - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I have read about it.
I would be intrested to know, in these plug in cars, just how much it costs to go x miles compared to the the same cost of gas. Getting off oil is a good thing I guess, but is this just going to be transferring the same money we were giving to big oil and now paying the electric companies?
That is what I thought but they have sold enough to be eliminated for the tax credit. They aren't as noticeable as an ugly Prius as the only difference that I can see is the small decal on the trunk of the Camry. The 3mpg advantage at highway driving isn't a big incentive now but when gas hits $4 a gallon I'll probably make the jump. City driving is their huge advantage but I avoid cities.Same with the Hybrid Camry. You dont see many of them.
Its about the equilivant of 50 cents for a gallon of gas. The best thing about plug in hybrids is I could stick a wind mill or some solar cells up to charge the car if I really wanted to.
