New PS2 owner...I'm hooked.

I broke down and went and bought a PS2. Saw a sample of a game that came out for PS2 that grabbed me. And I am SO friggin hooked. How'd I go so long without one is beyond me.

I couldn't see spending $600 plus on a new XBOX or more on a PS3 whenever they come out. I'm not an online gamer so the PS2 just seems to fit.

"When I have a rough day at work, I can go home and kill people", as my friend says.

But "Black" is so friggin cool. There's always a bigger gun to pick up to cause even more destruction. :jameo: It's a riot. I just bought it last Wednesday, and since then I've purchased 5 other games, and am about to pick up a multi-tap and two more controllers for the ATV game. I had a few unexpected visitors on Friday night, and we had a blast playin. The beer was good too.

Yep. It's an FPS. Dude, I wasted Sunday playing that damn game. Didn't intend to...only wanted to play for a few minutes to recharge the batteries. 4 hours later, sun was going down, and I felt like I was the one dodging bullets. I needed a nap BADLY! :lmao:

I've got it on the big screen with surround sound hooked up too. Dunno, maybe that's normal, but for someone that has not played a video game since Commodore 64, it's a different experience.

Gaming totally rocks. I have kind of eased away from the FPS and do the ones with the totally interactive worlds. I also like the Tiger Woods games. So which 5 did you buy right off the bat?

It's like crack...:roflmao: :killingme

I picked up Black, killzone, ATV something or other, Chevy vs Ford (that game is hsyterical) and Burnout 3. I can go home from a long day at work and take out my aggression built up from idiots on the Solomons bridge and cause HUGE expensive pileups with 18 wheelers and million dollar RV's.

Though, I about drove my IT buddy nuts for the first couple of days. I thought for sure that he was gonna suggest that I start off with something like the Homer Simpson game. :lmao: It took me a LONG while to get something that resembled coordination back into the finger tips.

My IT bud is HUGE into gaming and he's the one that showed me "Black". I'm tellin ya, you gotta check it out especially if you haven't played an FPS in awhile.. It's pretty wild. I'm getting absolutely NO work done on the house now.

I give it a rent up at blockbuster, I am guessing this is one I cannot play around the kid, its "M" right?

I recently beat Gods of War (not on the hard mode) and Resident Evil 4. The boy is 6 and he plays Chicken Little and Madagascar..:lmao:

PS2 New for $150 comes with one controller. You'll need to spend $25 on an additional controller and about the same on a memory card. Don't let them talk you into the 8MB card. Just spend the extra $10 and get the 64MB card. And you are ready to go.

You need to look at your TV to see if it it has an unused Optical (fiber optic)video line port. Otherwise you can just use the Component connections.

It is backwards compatible so all PS1 and PS2 games can be played. And the new PS2's are smaller than a portable DVD player.

Anytime you are looking at sports go with Electronic Arts.. They make by far the best sports games :yay: :yay:

Ponytail.... if you like football I HIGHLY suggest that you STAY AWAY from Madden 06.... DONT DO IT MAN.

Madden 06 occupied about 6 months of my life...it has finally started to simmer down now :jameo: :lmao: and my wife finally knows me again.

It's a hoot though, for chica's too! I had one at the house Friday night and she was playing and laughing just as hard as the rest of us. Of course, she was kickin' our asses though. :ohwell:

Thanks PT.

I guess Best Buy is the place to go? I just tell them I want a PS2 system with 2 controllers & 64MB mem. card?

I looked on ebay & it seemed complicated.

you CAN play it around youngin's if you have the sound turned down. The worst part about it is the cussin' that you'll here once in awhile. When you kill people, it's not all that graphic with the exception of how they hit the ground. That gets pretty realistic, minus the separation of body parts. There isn't any of that. No blood and guts, just a realistic "thump" when the bullet hits or a :tink: if you hit them in the helmet and then the lifeless flop to the ground.

I just went to Best Buy, though Walmart and Target also have everything you need. I didn't bother shopping around. I just went to BB and tried to avoid the sales people. you can pluck everything off the shelf. The salespeople will bombard you with offers for extended service warranties and chit. I didn't think it was worth it. There are MILLIONS of these things world wide, figured by now, the bugs have been worked out, and if a controller dies, it'll be because I wore it out, and I really don't see that happening. I mean unlike when I was a kid, I do have a 40hr a week job now. So, how much can I REALLY play.

Also, go to Target for the games. BIG selection and a "cheap rack". That's where I found burnout, Chevy vs Ford and ATV, and those games all saw HEAVY use this weekend.
