With Orion in your name I'm guessing you are Navy.. and are coming from Topsham ME??

If you liked Maine, and the Topsham area you will probably grow to love this place, depending on where you chose to live.

This has MUCH in common with the Topsham area, minus the snow. i wanted to retire in Dover Point, NH,and this place has a lot in common with no snow to shovel!! :yay: If you can, look South of the base, and you'll see what I mean.

Now for you...

Are you Chubby??

What kind of bike do you ride??

Are you a pony-boy??

Do you drive a Nissan, Toyota or Mazda that's been "modified" for performance??

Do you like Chinese food?

How about Sushi??

Are you afraid of crowds??

What if they are full of weird, psychopaths that like to chat online??

Have fun here, it's a great place to live.

I wonder if Norm's Rustic Cabin is still there?

Thanks for all the responses. I wasn't expecting that many this morning!

Yes so far I really enjoy the look of the area. Very Maine like and 4-seasonish.

As for us, no kids- but one on the way. Bringing along our Weimaraner, so I am going to have to scope out the place for large-ish areas to run him in. We are from Topsham, Maine and yes, the Navy has plunked me down to Lex Park. We spent almost 10 years in Brunswick, so it is time for a change.

Copy all on the theater situation. It sounds very much like the Brunswick situation approximately the time I got to Brunswick. One theater dominated the area, but it was dirty and rundown. People traveled an hour to go to a real theater. Finally a major brand cinema moved in (now a Regal) and blew that old one out of the water. It quickly closed. Now fast forward to today... that Regal has the monopoly and though a nice place to visit, the prices are awfully high. People still travel an hour for a good theater that is far cheaper.

Any thoughts for good furniture storefronts? The house we are leaving was pretty tiny, so our furniture matches the square footage. The house we are moving to is gigantic by Maine standards.

Love the Sea Dog and the evening concerts on the village green are so small town America. St.Mary's College has free concerts in the summer here.

Value City Furniture (www.vcf.com) is a good place to look, they'll deliver to the Lex Park area. (LP City is the slang term)

I just moved here a couple years ago from Brunswick, VP-92. And you? You guys will need to spend the first summer here outdoors to thaw out from that place!

Welcome! :howdy:

people that talk funny

Dee-by-gaw, Cap'n! :lmao:

Welcome! I too am a Topsham transplant, ordered to VX-1 in '93. Got out, did the contractor thing for a few, now I'm a GS type. This is a great place to leverage your Navy experience into a civilian career, if your so inclined.
And you can ride your motorcycle all 12 months of the year, too!

PS
We've had good luck with Doyle's furnature, on Rt 5 just south of the Great Mills Rd interesection.
