not having a college degree seen as a negative thing

First this thread is proof that partisanship is alive and disgusting. If it were Obama who had no degree many of those poo-pooing the need for a degree would be extolling the absolute necessity of post secondary education.

That said I think it will hurt Walker. Not sure if it will be a knockout blow but it will make a definite difference.

Is a college degree necessary to lead a nation like this one? Probably not. Most college degrees are earned by people in their youth and within minutes of exposure it is gone anyway. Ask me about Statistics, I just took it a few months ago and I struggle helping the girls with their stats homework for CSM. Does it open your mind to new ideas and viewpoints? Certainly and that in an of itself is valuable. Is college the only place that can occur? No. I like many believe that degrees are over rated and have become the status quo. I only got mine because so many doors were shut because I did not have one. Were those doors were barriers by regulation and not capability. I learned nothing getting my degree that I use daily, weekly or even monthly in performing my job. I just have it to have the opportunity to get the job.

I have worked for some terrible managers who had Masters. It was their personal abilities and mindset that made them terrible and not education. In fact you cannot educate out poor leadership and foresight in some people but you can educate in more open mindedness. I believe Walker could be a fine chief executive without a degree because he appears to have sound reasoning skills, charisma, courage, insight, communication and leadership skills. None of those by the way could be taught at Marquette. Honed perhaps but not taught.

 I was just thinking how much of a huge plus it will be for him.

Bush proved an MBA doesn't mean you know a damn thing about economics and Obama has proved a law degree, a constitutional law degree, doesn't mean you know a damn thing about the Constitution.

70% of us don't have degrees and we all know self absorbed a holes who do and who think their #### doesn't stink and don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

Maybe it's time to go with someone who is about what they've done and not some piece of paper that declares them King ####.

I don't think many will view it as a plus, let alone a huge one. The perception is a college degree is a prerequisite for running an enterprise of the size and complexity of the USA. Perception is reality.

Regarding Bush and economics, the economics of a society is like a giant tangle of string and trying to untangle it in a 40 mph wind. It moves on its own and when you pull her something gets tighter, something gets looser. It is not an exact science like your checkbook. Obama's constitutional law degree was not forged in college, it was already a mindset that was reinforced by his education. He likely took courses that disagreed with his notion of constitutional law but he, like every student kept what you want and disregarded what he didn't.

I think the percentage of those with out degrees is equal or surpassed by those without who are a-holes who think their #### doesn't stink and don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

There's one way to end the college degree debate, Congressman Hank Johnson has a college degree;

let that sink in for a second before you start laughing.

Hank Johnson also suffers from chronic liver disease and was by all accounts pretty sick around the time of that exchange. He shouldn't have been in congress if he was that confused, but he is in the same party that kept dragging Ted Kennedy and Robert Byrd back into the senate to pass votes when they were in no shape to do so.

No degree of illness or discomfort could make a person believe an island would tip over.

So I take it that Shelia Jackson Lee, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Cynthia McKinney, Barbara Boxer, and Maxine Waters are all sick also because they have all said some pretty stupid crap.

A degree is absolutely not necessary, it matters not one bit to me. I want an intelligent person leading this nation, not just one that is well educated. I want a person that has a history of doing well out in the world with a company or a state, not one whose world exposure exists of nothing more than getting a degree from a university.

I think Obama has shown he knows a great deal about constitutional law. If he didn't we would be seeing his actions overturned by SCOTUS. The closest we got was the penalty/tax case. While that should have gone the over way there haven't even been many real challenges to his administrations actions.
Right or wrong and how that plays with the constitution is obviously debatable but he seems to know what can be gotten away with.

By your logic, you must be on your death bed.
